The National Electric Power Corporation (NEPCO) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed an agreement on October 31 to collaborate in technology research in the power sector, particularly in the area of energy storage technology using battery equipment, to improve the efficiency and reliability of the power grid, The Gazette reported.
Under the agreement, the Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide technical assistance to Jordan's electricity sector through a joint task force. The General Manager of the National Electricity Corporation said that the agreement will support the National Electricity Corporation to enhance its renewable energy project operation capabilities and integrate renewable energy projects to operate the power system in accordance with the best international standards.
The project is in line with the government's policy of increasing local energy contributions to achieve energy supply security, and is consistent with the vision of supporting sustainable economic development. The project will strengthen the interconnected system, introduce the latest technologies in power system management and operation, optimize renewable energy management, reduce operating costs, and improve the reliability of the power grid.
