China Energy Storage Network reported: " After the transformation of the 10kV 577 Tayuanzhuang line, after nearly two weeks of continuous operation, there is no abnormality in 5G signal transmission, the distribution terminal is operating normally, the distribution automation master station data reception is stable and continuous, and there is no abnormality in terminal telesignaling and telemetry..." At 9:00 on September 18, in Tayuanzhuang Village, Zhengding County, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, the on-site operation and maintenance personnel of Zhengding County Power Supply Company fed back the line operation information to the duty personnel of the master station. This marks that the first intelligent distributed distribution automation project based on 5G technology in China has entered the actual operation stage, which will significantly improve the reliability of urban and rural distribution network power supply, make the power outage area smaller, reduce the number of power outages for residents, shorten the waiting time for incoming calls, and increase customer satisfaction with electricity consumption.

At present, the power distribution line structure of the Southern Hebei Power Grid is mainly single-radial, and there is a problem of difficulty in coordination between the upper and lower protection levels of the trunk line. Taking Tayuanzhuang Village as an example, if a distribution line fails somewhere in the area, the traditional centralized and local distribution automation mode is adopted. The upper substation 10kV outgoing line switch must be reclosed 1 to 2 times before the fault can be isolated. The average recovery time is 30 seconds, and the time required to find the fault point and isolate the fault is relatively long.

The emerging intelligent distributed distribution network protection technology can accurately locate and isolate the fault area, but this real-time communication method has extremely high requirements for the network environment, which can only be met by fiber-optic communication. If fiber-optic communication is used, a large number of optical cables need to be laid, which is difficult to implement and has high investment and operation and maintenance costs. In response to this problem, State Grid Hebei Electric Power Co., Ltd. proposed the concept of intelligent distributed distribution automation based on 5G technology. It does not require the laying of optical cables, but only requires the installation of SIM cards. In areas with good wireless public network communication coverage, the intelligent distributed distribution automation function of the distribution network based on the 5G wireless public network can be realized, effectively reducing the communication investment cost.

The high reliability, security and low latency of 5G communication technology make intelligent distributed power distribution automation protection more selective, sensitive and fast. This technology can complete the fault location, isolation and automatic power restoration of non-fault areas within 200 milliseconds through communication between distribution terminals, realizing the transformation of power distribution automation from seconds to milliseconds, greatly reducing the time and number of power outages caused by faults. For customers, restoring power in 200 milliseconds is equivalent to a light suddenly flashing, and the fault area has completed "self-healing" at this time.

In early June this year, in accordance with the requirements of State Grid Corporation of China to promote the construction of ubiquitous power Internet of Things, after the domestic 5G commercial license was officially issued, State Grid Hebei Electric Power immediately joined hands with China Unicom, China Mobile and other communication operators to launch the research and testing of intelligent distributed distribution automation based on 5G wireless public network. State Grid Hebei Electric Power selected experts to form a research team to conduct in-depth technical research through special investigations and concentrated discussions, and successively overcame a number of technical difficulties such as mutual access of commercial 5G network access terminal equipment, delay stability, data discreteness, environmental protection, equipment heat dissipation, etc., and completed end-to-end application scenario testing based on 5G network slicing.

State Grid Hebei Electric Power fully supports the construction of Zhengding Energy Internet Comprehensive Demonstration, and selects two distribution lines, 110 kV Baitang Station 577 Tayuanzhuang Line and 581 Dongbaitang Line, for field surveys, checks towers one by one, comprehensively analyzes line structures, and determines the optimal location for terminal installation. The company has formulated a detailed distribution automation transformation work plan, arranged joint commissioning tests and 5G signal tests, and successfully verified the versatility of intelligent distributed distribution automation technology based on 5G public networks in different operators' communication network environments; relying on physical dynamic models and real-time digital simulation experimental platforms, it conducts system-level fault simulation tests in real environments, providing important technical support for distribution automation construction.

State Grid Hebei Electric Power will use the Zhengding Tayuanzhuang pilot project as a basis to further summarize the experience of intelligent distributed distribution automation operation based on 5G wireless public networks, build a distribution network reliability improvement management model integrating 5G technology, accelerate the construction of ubiquitous power Internet of Things, and comprehensively improve the intelligence level of Hebei Southern Power Grid.
