On September 10, at the International Smart Energy (Electricity) Forum held in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, several Internet experts from the State Grid Corporation of China talked about the practice of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things in the keynote speech and roundtable discussion. The speeches at the forum showed that the ubiquitous power Internet of Things has made substantial progress in many cities, and the first phase of the State Grid ubiquitous Internet of Things business has been fully accelerated, and all 25 comprehensive demonstrations of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things will be completed by the end of this year.

The ubiquitous power Internet of Things will be initially established in 2021

"The strategic concept of 'Three Types and Two Networks' is the specific practice and implementation of promoting high-quality energy development in State Grid Corporation of China. Ubiquitous power Internet of Things is the core task for the implementation of the strategic goals of the Three Types and Two Networks. We have now issued the 'Outline for the Construction of Ubiquitous Power Internet of Things' and the 'Construction Plan for Ubiquitous Power Internet of Things in 2019', and have fully launched relevant construction work." At the beginning of the forum, Wang Lei, deputy director of the Internet Department of State Grid Corporation of China, delivered the first keynote report of the forum entitled "Construction Practice of Ubiquitous Power Internet of Things".

He introduced that the State Grid has started the compilation of more than 100 standards in seven categories of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things, including the compilation of relevant standards for the power 5G private network, focusing first on the two standards of low latency and massive access. According to the construction schedule, the State Grid will initially build the ubiquitous power Internet of Things in 2021 and complete the ubiquitous power Internet of Things in 2023. "It should be said that the first phase of the business has been fully accelerated. This year, we will complete the construction of 25 comprehensive demonstrations of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things by the end of the year."

According to reports, the State Grid has completed the design of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things standard system and evaluation system, carried out extensive exchanges internally and externally, and at the same time, in accordance with the principle of highlighting key points and exerting efforts in both directions, has formed innovative results with significant value in some areas, including optimizing the power business environment, coordinated optimization of sources, grids, loads and storage, comprehensive services for electric vehicles, comprehensive services for new energy, and value-added realization of resources.

"At present, State Grid Corporation of China has substations distributed in various places. The substations have a certain power supply capacity and a certain site. Many of these substations are located in the city center. In big cities, where land is extremely valuable and energy supply capacity is limited, we build our data centers, charging and swapping stations, and photovoltaic power stations, including Beidou base stations and 5G base stations, in substations. This can realize a multi-station integrated construction model and provide comprehensive services to society," he said.

According to reports, the State Grid has cooperated with the three major operators to share poles and towers, and use the power grid's transmission line towers and cable channels to provide support for public wireless network services. In addition, the State Grid has set up a big data center and developed many power big data products to provide data resource services to both inside and outside the company.

"For the construction of ubiquitous power Internet of Things proposed by State Grid Corporation of China, we are expanding value-added business and providing integrated energy services. However, we are not the only one doing this. We want to build an ecosystem of integrated energy services and encourage resources from all sectors of society to participate in the construction of ubiquitous power Internet of Things. The ubiquitous power Internet of Things cannot be achieved by State Grid alone," he also said.

The four provinces and cities in East China respectively expressed their achievements and determination

Experts, scholars and business personnel participating in the International Smart Energy (Electricity) Forum came from many countries around the world. The conference provided simultaneous interpretation in five languages alone: Chinese, English, Russian, French and Spanish. However, the important seats for the keynote reports and round-table discussions were still given to the power grid companies of the four provinces and cities in East China.

The Jiaxing City Energy Internet Comprehensive Demonstration Project of State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Company was presented in detail at the forum as a keynote report.

"After the State Grid proposed the new strategy of 'three types and two networks' and 'world-class' this year, Zhejiang Company made full use of its first-mover advantage to further accelerate the construction of the energy Internet." Sheng Ye, director of the Internet Department of Zhejiang Electric Power Company, introduced that the Jiaxing City Energy Internet Comprehensive Demonstration Project is the first batch of energy "Internet" + smart energy projects of the National Energy Administration and has recently passed acceptance.

According to reports, in terms of energy interconnection, the project has achieved open interconnection and operation optimization of clean energy, efficient power grid, low-carbon buildings, smart energy use, and green transportation in the demonstration area; clean energy and green transportation in the core demonstration area have achieved 100% interconnection. In terms of information sharing, the sharing of data resources such as renewable energy resources, building energy efficiency management, electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and smart energy use in the demonstration area has been achieved, and new forms and models of energy sharing economy have been explored. In terms of supply and demand interaction, the interconnection of power supply and demand has been achieved, and based on market-oriented mechanisms, new models of "Internet" + smart energy use and services have been explored to achieve a new business model of energy Internet with an open model. In terms of low-carbon energy use, multi-energy complementarity has been achieved, the level of comprehensive utilization has been improved, 100% of renewable energy in the core demonstration area has been connected and consumed, electric vehicles and charging piles have been promoted, the peak power demand has been reduced by 5%, the energy consumption of demonstration buildings has been reduced by 6%, and pollutant emissions have been reduced by 2%.

Chen Qing, deputy general manager of State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company, shared the "DC Smart Grid Demonstration Construction Practice". He introduced that the system demonstration project of medium and low voltage DC distribution in Suzhou is a national key R&D plan project in 2018, a demonstration project of key technologies and application supporting medium and low voltage DC distribution and power supply systems, and the demonstration area covers DC loads such as industry, commerce, municipal administration and residential areas, exploring and piloting the deep integration of medium and low voltage DC distribution and low voltage DC power supply in Jiangsu. The project will realize the application standardization of medium and low voltage DC distribution and power supply technology, and promote the further development of DC distribution related equipment and industrial chain.

Xie Wei, chief engineer of State Grid Shanghai Electric Power Company, said that since the construction of the ubiquitous Internet of Things this year, Shanghai's work can be summarized in two sentences: integration of points and surfaces, and integration of inside and outside. "Integration of points and surfaces" means that the pilot projects of the ubiquitous Internet of Things have a certain scale, and the steps taken are "two wings and one center". The "two wings" are Zhangjiang Science City in Pudong and Hongqiao in Minhang, where pilot projects of the ubiquitous Internet of Things are being promoted. "One center" refers to the deployment of 10,000 sensors in an area of one square kilometer on Huaihai Road in the city center to carry out intelligent sensing. "Integration of inside and outside" means emphasizing the interaction with the entire industrial chain, including electricity users, including governments, energy producers, suppliers, etc.

Chen Xixiang, chief engineer of Anhui Electric Power Company of State Grid, also said at the forum: "Since State Grid proposed the construction of 'three types and two networks' this year, Anhui Company wants to seize this important strategic opportunity period to achieve overtaking and truly catch up with some advanced management units such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai, so that Anhui can become the leader of the entire State Grid together with East China."
