Spanish inverter manufacturer GPTech has opened a production line in South Africa. GPTech said in a press release that local RWW engineering
The company, which will be responsible for assembling the production line, has been designing and manufacturing electrical equipment and turnkey projects in the country for more than 30 years.
The Spanish company, which has an order book of more than 400 MW, including 200 MW in South Africa, has applied local content requirements to solar projects and has economically empowered a large black population in its workforce absorption program.
The business alliance will guarantee after-sales services, PV plant maintenance solutions, fast spare parts services and other engineering skills in the region.
The capacity of the new production line is not yet clear, nor is the start-up date.
GPTech has been involved in the South African PV industry since 2013 and expects to sell its products and services in most countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
