China Energy Storage Network News : At 16:00 on December 25, the world's largest multi-terminal AC/DC hybrid flexible distribution network interconnection project was successfully put into operation in Tangjia Bay, Zhuhai, Guangdong.

This project is an important milestone for the State Grid Corporation of China in promoting the construction of the first batch of "Internet +" smart energy demonstration projects of the National Energy Administration. It has successfully guided the promotion and application of a series of iconic and highly influential key products and equipment, formed technical standards and specifications for flexible DC distribution network systems, and filled gaps at home and abroad.

Exploring new directions for energy internet construction

In order to actively explore new directions for the construction of energy Internet, China Southern Power Grid Guangdong Power Grid Company began to prepare for the construction of the "city-park dual-level 'Internet +' smart energy demonstration project supporting the energy consumption revolution" in Tangjia Bay, Zhuhai in early 2017. The project focuses on the entire city of Zhuhai and the two parks of "Tangjia" and "Hengqin", providing support for the exploration of energy Internet construction from the three levels of "physical layer", "information layer" and "application layer". The multi-terminal AC/DC hybrid flexible distribution network interconnection project that was successfully put into operation this time is the most critical part of the project at the physical level.

The Tangjiawan multi-terminal AC/DC hybrid flexible distribution network interconnection project consists of three flexible DC converter stations and a DC microgrid, and the converter stations are connected by underground cables. The project is the world's first ±10kV, ±375V, ±110V multi-voltage AC/DC hybrid distribution network demonstration project, and is also the world's largest capacity ±10kV distribution network flexible DC converter station.

If the multi-terminal AC/DC hybrid flexible distribution network interconnection project is likened to a large pool, each end is like a water pipe, which can both inject water into the pool and draw water out of the pool. The multi-terminal AC/DC hybrid flexible distribution network interconnection project must first keep the voltage basically unchanged, while ensuring that the inflow and outflow currents are normally controlled. Just like the water level and flow direction of the pool water must be controlled, the technical difficulty is very high. The multi-terminal AC/DC hybrid flexible distribution network interconnection project launched this time, by adopting the world's largest capacity ±10kV medium-voltage flexible DC converter valve, the first application of three-port DC circuit breakers, and the world's largest capacity ±10kV DC transformers, can regulate both the current and the voltage, and realize real-time regulation of the voltage level of each node in the power grid.

Conquer key technologies of energy internet

According to Huang Tao, deputy director of the infrastructure department of Guangdong Power Grid Company of the State Grid Corporation of China, the Zhuhai Tangjia Bay multi-terminal AC/DC hybrid flexible distribution network interconnection project has achieved regional interconnection and mutual assistance in power supply, improved the flexibility and controllability of the distribution network, promoted the friendly access of distributed renewable energy, and improved the efficiency of grid resource utilization and power quality.

The Guangdong Zhuhai Power Supply Bureau of the State Grid Corporation of China revealed that the solution of the "City-Park Two-Level 'Internet+' Smart Energy Demonstration Project to Support the Energy Consumption Revolution" is to upgrade the network intelligence through the physical layer, realize the integration of various energy information through the information layer, and finally implement smart energy use services at the application layer to enhance the energy consumption experience and improve the overall energy efficiency of society.

Li Ying, head of the distribution network planning section of the company's planning and development department, said that during the entire project, Zhuhai Power Supply Bureau has mastered the key technologies of energy Internet - in addition to the Zhuhai multi-terminal AC/DC hybrid flexible distribution network interconnection project that was successfully put into operation this time, it also includes AC/DC hybrid flexible distribution network dispatching management, big data fusion information mining, and Internet open platform construction - so that these key technologies have formed corresponding core standards and promoted the high-quality development of energy Internet.

Building a smart energy big data platform

Next, the Guangdong Zhuhai Power Supply Bureau of the State Grid Corporation of China will build a smart energy big data platform as the main framework of the information layer and application layer, interact with the big data platform already built by the Guangdong Power Grid, and provide overall support for advanced applications such as integrated energy services, multi-collaborative operations, and demand response. It will cover the acquisition of industry information, market dynamics information, as well as traditional power grid business, environmental space data and other aspects of data, and ultimately realize the overall application of big data.

Experts pointed out that city-level energy information integration is to access comprehensive energy information through comprehensive energy information collection and Internet technology, so as to achieve full coverage of smart meters and low-voltage collection in the city. It not only enables about 10,000 users to access information through the network, but also realizes information access of multiple forms of resources such as light, storage, charging, cooling, heat, gas, and water, supporting the innovative development of the energy Internet in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
