On November 19, the Xianfeng New Energy Lithium-ion Enriched Materials (Phase I) project invested by Xianfeng Holdings (002141) was officially completed and put into trial operation in Boluo County, Huizhou City. This move marks that Xianfeng Holdings has taken a solid step towards the strategic transformation of the new energy industry, and is steadily moving towards the development goal of becoming a pioneer in the future "lithium energy" field and a maker of new order in the lithium battery industry.

Received orders worth 257 million yuan

According to the project leader, Huizhou New Energy's 4,500-ton annual production line of lithium-ion enrichment materials for brine extraction is Xianfeng Holdings' first key project in the new energy field. After the completion of the first phase of the project, it will have an annual production scale of 1,800 tons, and the second phase will be expanded to 4,500 tons.

It is reported that the products of this project are mainly used to extract lithium ions from salt lake brine. The Russian second-generation adsorption lithium extraction technology and the process of preparing lithium ion enrichment materials mastered by Xianfeng Holdings are the most advanced technologies for lithium extraction from salt lakes. It can achieve the highest enrichment efficiency and the longest service life, which will greatly optimize the cost and efficiency of downstream manufacturers to extract lithium from high magnesium-lithium ratio salt lake brine. Compared with other salt lake lithium extraction production processes, the technology mastered by Xianfeng Holdings not only achieves the lowest production cost, but also achieves the best environmental advantages. Among them, the high-efficiency lithium ion enrichment materials, adsorption tower design and deep impurity removal process designs in the patented technology are all unique technologies. Its industrial production process is suitable for various types of salt lakes, especially the high-magnesium and low-lithium salt lakes in Qinghai, China. The process yield, product quality and environmental protection are all at the international leading level.

Due to its advanced production technology, the product has been favored by downstream customers before it was put into production. In August 2017, Huizhou New Energy signed a "Technology Use Agreement" and a "Lithium Ion Enrichment Material Sales Agreement" with listed company Zangge Holdings (000408), with a contract value of 257 million yuan. At present, Huizhou New Energy has received a contract advance payment of more than 100 million yuan from Zangge Holdings.

Industry insiders believe that with the official commissioning of the project, the benefits brought by the execution of the Zangge Holdings agreement are expected to have a sustained positive impact on the performance of Xianfeng Holdings.

Lithium-ion-enriched materials have great development potential

It is understood that Xianfeng Holdings began its strategic transformation to the lithium battery industry in 2017. In less than two years, the company completed its layout in the new energy industry chain, forming a development pattern driven by "fine wire and new energy lithium industry", and embarked on a steady development path from a traditional fine enameled wire enterprise to a new energy technology enterprise.

The new generation of "lithium-ion enriched materials" mastered by Xianfeng Holdings is a "golden key" to unlock the lithium resources hidden in high magnesium-lithium ratio brine. It is currently the only manufacturing process that achieves comprehensive environmental protection "zero pollution" and has extremely high technical barriers.

Relevant statistics show that by 2020, the cumulative gap in domestic lithium-ion-enriched materials is expected to exceed 12,000 tons, by 2025, the cumulative gap in lithium-ion-enriched materials will exceed 20,000 tons, and by 2030, the cumulative total demand for lithium-ion-enriched materials will reach 58,000 tons, showing a geometric growth trend.

The reporter learned that in addition to the Zangge Holdings project, the "Qinghai Zhongnong Xianfeng Lithium Industry Co., Ltd." jointly established by Xianfeng Holdings, China Agricultural Materials Group Corporation, Zhongnong Group Holdings Co., Ltd. and Mangya Xingyuan Potash Fertilizer Co., Ltd. will build an industrial-grade lithium carbonate project with an annual output of 30,000 tons. The salt lake lithium extraction technology and lithium ion enrichment materials of the project will also be provided by Huizhou New Energy.

The acquisition of salt lake resources is also an important layout for Xianfeng Holdings to transform into the new energy industry. In 2017, the company signed strategic cooperation agreements with China Agricultural Materials Group Corporation and Shenzhen AVIC Resources Co., Ltd. According to Xianfeng Holdings' long-term plan, the company's technical services and enrichment material sales will be completed by Xianfeng New Energy in the future, and the production of lithium carbonate products will be carried out by the newly established Qinghai Zhongnong Xianfeng Lithium Industry Co., Ltd. At the same time, the company will continue to expand the market share of the company's technology in salt lake lithium extraction at home and abroad through technical services and joint ventures, and continue to extend the lithium carbonate product line chain through reserved technologies.

Xianfeng Holdings said that as the cost, efficiency and environmental advantages of the enrichment salt lake lithium extraction process are gradually recognized by the industry, more lithium carbonate manufacturers will adopt this process, which will continue to expand the product market in the future. The company will adhere to the industry positioning of new energy technology service provider, core raw materials and lithium carbonate product provider in the future, and steadily move towards the development goal of becoming an enterprise with significant influence in the lithium resource industry in China and even the world.
