Germany’s SMA Solar Technology AG and India’s Greenko Energies have signed a contract to supply 616 MW of solar photovoltaic inverters.

Greenko will build photovoltaic power plants in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, India, using SMA inverters next year.

“We are proud that Greenko has chosen SMA to help them bring affordable clean energy to the people of India,” said John Susa, Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific, SMA.

Boris Wolff, Executive Vice President of the Business Unit at SMA, added: “SMA has developed the Sunny Central 1000CP XT inverter specifically for markets like India, which are subject to price pressure and a very challenging environment. With its outdoor rating, OptiCool technology, extensive earthquake and wind speed tests and its highest power density in the market, the Sunny Central 1000CP XT inverter is clearly focused on reducing balance of system (BOS), maintenance and logistics costs for solar PV power plant projects.”
