China Energy Storage Network News : On March 30, the 2016 Global Energy Internet Conference with the theme of "Global Energy Internet - Meeting Global Electricity Demand with Clean and Green Methods" was held in Beijing. At the same time, the Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization was established, which is the first international organization initiated by China in the energy field.
Liu Zhenya was elected as the chairman of the cooperation organization
On March 29, the first council meeting of the Global Energy Interconnection Development Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) was held in Beijing. Yesterday at the conference, the GEIDCO was unveiled.
The governing units include State Grid Corporation of China, China Huaneng Group Corporation, China Electricity Council, Shandong University, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Japan Renewable Energy Association, Russian Grid Company, Brazilian Electricity Company, Climate Parliament, University of Birmingham, Siemens AG, ABB Group, Morgan Stanley, Accenture, etc.
Liu Zhenya, Chairman of the State Grid Corporation of China, was elected Chairman of the cooperation organization, and Nobel Prize winner in Physics and former U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, State Grid Corporation of China General Manager Shu Yinbiao, and Masayoshi Son, President of the Japan Renewable Energy Association, served as Vice Chairmen.
Liu Zhenya stressed that building a global energy internet and accelerating the formation of a new energy development pattern dominated by clean energy, centered on electricity and globally configured is the only way to achieve energy transformation and sustainable development. The global energy internet is a smart grid with UHV power grid as the backbone and globally interconnected. It is the basic platform for large-scale development, configuration and utilization of clean energy on a global scale. Its essence is "smart grid + UHV power grid + clean energy". As the world's largest energy system, the global energy internet will produce huge comprehensive economic, social and environmental benefits.
According to reports, the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization is a non-governmental, non-profit international organization initiated by the State Grid Corporation of China and voluntarily formed by relevant enterprises, organizations, and institutions. Its purpose is to promote the construction of a global energy internet, meet global electricity demand in a clean and green way, promote the realization of the United Nations' goal of "sustainable energy for all" and climate change, and serve the sustainable development of human society. The first batch of 80 members came from countries in five continents, including Asia, Europe, Africa, America and Oceania, including 2 individual members, 10 social groups, 10 research institutions and colleges, and 58 companies (including 22 Fortune 500 companies).
The interconnection of intercontinental and cross-border power grids should be accelerated
On September 26, 2015, President Xi Jinping proposed the Chinese initiative of "discussing the construction of a global energy internet and promoting clean and green ways to meet global electricity demand" at the UN General Assembly Summit, which has been widely supported by the United Nations and the international community. For more than half a year, State Grid has insisted on calling for the construction of a global energy internet.
Yesterday, Liu Zhenya said in his speech that the world's energy development faces three major challenges: resource shortage, environmental pollution, and climate change. The fundamental way out is to build a global energy Internet. The global energy Internet is "smart grid + ultra-high voltage grid + clean energy", a sustainable supply, green and low-carbon, economically efficient, open and shared energy system, and the only way to achieve sustainable development for mankind, with huge economic, social and environmental comprehensive benefits.
Liu Zhenya said that in building a global energy internet, the focus should be on intensive and large-scale development of clean energy on all continents, and flexible and economic development of various types of distributed energy. Accelerate the interconnection of intercontinental and transnational power grids to achieve globalization of energy production, globalization of allocation, and globalization of trade. Build an "Internet of Things" that integrates power transmission, resource allocation, market transactions, information interaction, and intelligent services. Vigorously promote the substitution of electricity in the fields of industry, transportation, commerce, and residents' lives, replace coal, oil, and gas with electricity, and promote the electrification of energy consumption.
Wu Hongbo, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, pointed out at the meeting yesterday that in order to achieve the climate change goals set by the Paris Agreement, it is necessary to accelerate the formation of a new world energy pattern dominated by clean energy and fundamentally solve the problems of energy security and climate change. The United Nations will actively support and promote the construction of a global energy Internet as an important solution to accelerate energy transformation, achieve clean development, and respond to climate change, and actively organize relevant parties to jointly promote the innovative development of the global energy Internet.
Li Yining, honorary dean of the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University, also said that the Global Energy Internet provides a practical and systematic solution for developing a low-carbon economy and achieving energy transformation. China's development is at a critical period of transition from old to new drivers. The construction of China's Energy Internet will become an important tool for promoting supply-side structural reforms, cultivating and strengthening new drivers, and accelerating the development of the new economy, which will benefit both the present and the long term.
According to reports, during the conference, China State Grid Corporation, Korea Electric Power Corporation, Japan SoftBank Group, and Russian Power Grid Corporation jointly signed the "Northeast Asia Power Grid Cooperation Memorandum", released the Arctic Wind Power Resource Development Research Report and the Global Energy Internet Research Report. The conference also issued the "Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Declaration" and other documents.
