China Energy Storage Network News: Beijing March 30, 2016 Global Energy Internet Conference with the theme of "Global Energy Internet - Meeting Global Electricity Demand with Clean and Green Ways" was held in Beijing today. Relevant people said: By building a global energy Internet, the global and Chinese clean energy only need to maintain a growth rate of 12.4% and 13%, and the proportion of clean energy can be increased to more than 80% by 2050.
The conference was jointly hosted by China State Grid Corporation, the United Nations Climate Change Action, the International Energy Agency, and the Edison Electric Institute. The conference was highly valued by all parties. Representatives from international organizations such as the United Nations, the International Energy Agency, and the World Bank, government departments of the United States, Russia and other countries, as well as heads of relevant domestic government departments and academicians of the two academies in the field of energy attended the conference.
Liu Zhenya, Chairman of State Grid Corporation of China, mentioned in his keynote speech entitled "Building a Global Energy Internet, Towards a New Era of Sustainable Development for Humankind" that the world's energy development faces three major challenges: resource shortage, environmental pollution, and climate change. The fundamental way out is to build a global energy Internet. The global energy Internet is "smart grid + ultra-high voltage grid + clean energy", a sustainable supply, green and low-carbon, economical and efficient, open and shared energy system, and the only way to achieve sustainable development for mankind. It is understood that the construction of the global energy Internet can be generally divided into three stages: domestic interconnection, intra-continental interconnection, and inter-continental interconnection. From now to 2020, the focus will be on accelerating the development of clean energy and domestic power grid interconnection in various countries; by 2030, the focus will be on promoting the development of large energy bases in the continent and cross-border interconnection of power grids; by 2050, the focus will be on developing "one pole and one road" energy bases and promoting cross-continental interconnection of power grids, and basically building a global energy Internet.
In his speech, Wu Hongbo, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, pointed out that the United Nations will actively support and promote the construction of a global energy internet as an important solution to accelerate energy transformation, achieve clean development, and address climate change, and actively organize relevant parties to jointly promote the innovative development of the global energy internet.
According to data from the State Grid, by building a global energy internet, global carbon dioxide emissions can be controlled at around 11.5 billion tons by 2050, half the level of the early 1990s, and global temperature rise can be controlled within 2°C. my country can control its carbon emissions peak at around 10.1 billion tons, a reduction of 2.4 billion tons; the peak time of carbon emissions can be advanced from 2030 to around 2025.
Professor Li Yining, Honorary Dean of Guanghua School of Management, Peking University, said in his keynote speech that the Global Energy Internet provides a practical and systematic solution for developing a low-carbon economy and realizing energy transformation. The Global Energy Internet integrates economic low-carbonization with sustained economic growth, which can not only achieve low-carbonization in sustained growth, but also promote sustained economic growth. He said that China's development is at a critical period of transition from old to new drivers, and the construction of China's energy Internet will become an important tool to promote supply-side structural reforms, cultivate and strengthen new drivers, and accelerate the development of the new economy, which will benefit both the present and the long term.
At the opening ceremony of the conference, the Global Energy Interconnection Development Cooperation Organization was unveiled. The cooperation organization was exclusively initiated by the State Grid Corporation of China and is the first international organization initiated by China in the energy field. Liu Zhenya, Chairman of the State Grid Corporation of China, served as the first chairman of the cooperation organization, and former U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, General Manager of the State Grid Corporation of China Shu Yinbiao, and Masayoshi Son, President of Japan's SoftBank Group, served as vice chairmen. The first batch of members is 80, from five continents including Asia, Europe, Africa, America and Oceania. The establishment of the cooperation organization marks that the global energy Internet has entered a new stage of comprehensive development.
In the context of the global economic downturn, what profound impact will the Global Energy Internet have on the world economy? Chen Gesong, deputy director of the Office of the Global Energy Internet Development and Cooperation Organization, explained this.
Chen Gesong said that, for example, in building clean energy, the investment in the Internet over the next 35 years will reach 50 trillion US dollars, which is a huge investment and should exceed this number. The investment will definitely be a new growth point for the world's economic growth. It will drive the clean energy field, wind power, and photovoltaics. First, it will drive the development of these production capacities to solve the problem of overcapacity. Second, it will drive the development and utilization of power grids, such as cement, towers, and steel related to infrastructure. Third, it will drive the development of power electronics, strategic emerging industries, and the entire development of information and communications. Its role should be comprehensive.
In terms of fields, it is cross-field cooperation. In terms of countries, it is cross-national and cross-continental, and has a strong effect of driving the wide-area economy.
In practice, China is at the forefront of UHV development. Smart grids, clean energy, and the scale of clean energy development are the first in the world. Wind power and photovoltaic power are the first in the world. China has a leading advantage. According to the research of State Grid Corporation of China, China's Internet, whether it is Southern Grid, State Grid, power generation group, etc., can drive investment in the power grid by about 1 trillion yuan a year. According to the 1:1 relationship, power supply also drives 1 trillion yuan. Adding together, 2 trillion yuan a year, 2 trillion yuan of investment can drive GDP growth, and the annual growth is about 1.5%. This item alone has contributed to the growth of GDP by 1.5%, which is a very impressive figure. If it develops like this for 10 years, it will be a great thing for the country.
