China Energy Storage Network : How to solve the many global problems facing human society, such as resource shortages, environmental pollution, climate change, and the increasingly severe fossil energy dilemma? Liu Zhenya, Chairman of the State Grid Corporation of China, delivered a keynote speech at the 35th Cambridge Energy Week in Houston, USA on the 25th, proposing to build a global energy Internet to promote the transformation of world energy reform in response to the above issues.

Known as the "Davos" of the energy industry, Cambridge Energy Week is a high-end forum covering new trends, new situations, new features and new challenges in the global energy market. It brings together dignitaries, energy industry leaders and heads of large international companies from many countries around the world. It is held in Houston, the energy capital of the United States, in February and March every year.

"It is imperative to promote global energy transformation and change. The fundamental way out is to replace fossil energy with clean energy such as solar energy and wind energy." In his keynote speech on "Electricity Day" on the 25th, Liu Zhenya proposed the concept of "building a global energy Internet" and painted a development blueprint for low-carbon power generation and responding to climate change.

The Global Energy Internet is a strong and intelligent power grid with ultra-high voltage power grid as its backbone and interconnected globally. It is the basic platform for the large-scale development, deployment and utilization of clean energy on a global scale, and an important measure to implement and develop the "Belt and Road" initiative.

According to Liu Zhenya's vision, the construction of the network will go through three stages. From now until 2020, the focus will be on accelerating the development of clean energy in various countries and the construction of domestic power grid interconnection; by 2030, the focus will be on promoting the development of large-scale energy bases within the continent and cross-border interconnection of power grids; by 2050, the focus will be on developing "one pole and one channel" energy bases and promoting cross-continental interconnection of power grids, basically building a global energy Internet.

On the same day, State Grid Corporation of China released the research results that took more than three years to complete at the Energy Week, proving that advanced transmission technology can efficiently transmit electricity generated by Arctic wind power and equatorial solar power bases to major load centers on various continents.

Liu Zhenya pointed out that the world's clean energy is inexhaustible. Developing only 0.05% of it can meet the energy needs of future human society. Coupled with the continuous breakthroughs in technology and equipment, the conditions for building a global energy Internet are already in place.

Chairman of the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Benoman said, "This is a bold and visionary idea." After Liu Zhenya's speech, Chairman of Cambridge Energy Consulting, which led this "brainstorming" in the energy industry, Yergin said, "Global Energy Internet is a great and groundbreaking concept. State Grid already has significant advantages and successful practices. It will play a key role in solving global energy security, environmental pollution, climate change and other issues."

"Many of the elites in energy, finance and other fields in various countries and regions that I have come into contact with are shocked and excited by the concept of global energy internet. They recognize our technological innovation and hope to promote it as soon as possible. But some people have a 'sour grapes' mentality." When asked by a reporter from China News Service about the biggest challenge in the future implementation process, Liu Zhenya pointed out, "It still comes down to people's ideas and concepts. Politicians in particular should have the awareness of serving all mankind, achieving clean development, and making the world a 'global village' with blue skies, green land, peace and harmony." (End)
