China Energy Storage Network reported : "China has proposed to explore the construction of a global energy internet and promote the use of clean and green methods to meet global electricity demand." The strategic concept proposed by President Xi Jinping at the United Nations Development Summit not long ago is causing resonance in Europe. On December 10-11, at the China-Europe Technology and Equipment Seminar on Global Energy Internet, people from all walks of life in China and Europe were full of expectations for the prospect of building a global energy internet, believing that this will bring new ideas to addressing the challenges of climate change and promote world peace, development and win-win cooperation.

More than 70 representatives from relevant international organizations, China-Europe energy and power enterprises, research institutions and universities attended the event. 18 experts made special speeches covering the fields of global power grid interconnection, power transmission and transformation technology and equipment, smart grid and new energy. Liu Zhenya, Chairman of State Grid Corporation of China, pointed out in his keynote speech that the large-scale development and use of fossil energy has brought three major challenges to human society: resource shortage, environmental pollution and climate change. Since the first Berlin Climate Conference in 1995 and the entry into force of the Kyoto Protocol in 1997, the world's major economies have continued to negotiate and use carbon pricing, carbon trading and other methods to try to solve the problem, but the total global carbon dioxide emissions are still growing at an average annual rate of 2%. Practice has proved that this road is difficult. The fundamental way out of the challenge is to accelerate the development and utilization of clean energy, that is, to implement clean substitution in energy development, replacing fossil energy with clean energy; to implement electric energy substitution in energy consumption, replacing coal with electricity and oil with electricity. The essence of the Global Energy Internet is "UHV grid + smart grid + clean energy", which is the basic platform for the large-scale development, allocation and utilization of clean energy on a global scale.

Liu Zhenya emphasized in an interview that President Xi Jinping's proposal to build a global energy internet is a historical transcendence and major innovation of the traditional energy development concept. It is an important initiative made by the Chinese government to actively respond to climate change and promote the United Nations post-2015 development agenda. It requires the international community to build consensus, explore paths, and jointly promote it. The implementation of this initiative can be divided into "three steps": the first step is domestic interconnection. From now to 2020, accelerate the development of clean energy and domestic power grid interconnection in various countries, and significantly improve the power grid configuration capabilities, intelligence level and clean energy proportion of various countries. The second step is intra-continental interconnection. From 2020 to 2030, promote the development of large-scale energy bases in the continent and cross-border interconnection of power grids, and realize large-scale, large-scale and efficient optimization of clean energy in the continent. The third step is inter-continental interconnection. From 2030 to 2050, accelerate the development of "one pole and one road" (Arctic wind power, equatorial solar energy) energy bases, basically build a global energy internet, achieve the goal of clean energy dominance on a global scale, and comprehensively solve the problems of world energy security, environmental pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

Chinese Ambassador to Germany Shi Mingde pointed out that in recent years, China-Germany economic and trade cooperation and technological exchanges have become increasingly close, and a number of major consensuses have been reached on the docking of "Made in China 2025" and Germany's "Industry 4.0". Strengthening cooperation in key technologies and major equipment for the global energy internet will make a significant contribution to deepening economic and trade exchanges and technological exchanges between China and Germany and even between China and Europe, and will also inject new impetus into the energy transformation of China and Germany.

Dr. Hans Zimmer, Chairman of the German Institute for Electrical, Electronic and Communication Technology, said that the Global Energy Internet provides a feasible solution for maximizing and maximizing the global development and utilization of renewable energy. Long-distance power transmission is a technical challenge to realize this vision. Fortunately, China has technically solved the issue of ultra-high voltage long-distance power transmission. China and European partners can further strengthen cooperation in this regard. He said that mankind needs to eventually get rid of traditional fossil energy supply and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The potential for the development and utilization of renewable energy is endless. Although the Global Energy Internet is still just an initiative, many initiatives in history have eventually become reality. Given time and technology, the Global Energy Internet can also be realized and benefit China, Europe and the world.

Dr. Beno Penze, the first general manager of the German Federal Foreign Trade and Investment Agency, told our reporter that Germany is implementing energy transformation. The integration and interconnection of the German and European power grids is an important part of this. China and Germany have set an example for the world in the development and utilization of renewable energy, and the two countries should further strengthen cooperation. For example, China has accumulated rich technical experience in transmitting a large amount of electricity from the western region, which is rich in solar and wind energy, to the economically developed eastern region, which can provide reference for the construction of power grids in Germany and even Europe. At the same time, Germany has a lot of experience in connecting renewable energy to the power grid and preventing fluctuations, which can be shared with China.

To demonstrate the technical feasibility of the global energy internet, Professor Kai Strunz of the Technical University of Berlin found a research report from 1947 when Germany was still occupied by the US military. The report proposed some ideas for cross-border and cross-continental high-voltage power transmission, but none of them were realized. He said that the global energy internet could greatly expand those initial ideas, improve energy security, ensure energy supply, and improve energy economy. In February this year, the European Union proposed to further strengthen cross-border power grid interconnection. By 2020, the cross-border power transmission capacity of European countries should not be less than 10% of their own installed power generation capacity. This goal is in line with the direction of building a global energy internet.

Liu Zhenya said that energy is the blood of the economy and society. In the era of the global village, if the Internet is compared to the "nervous system", then the Global Energy Internet is the "vascular system". As the world's largest energy allocation system, the Global Energy Internet can connect the power grids of various continents with time zone differences and seasonal differences, solve the energy and environmental problems that have long plagued human development, and create a global village with sufficient energy, blue skies, green land, bright and peaceful harmony.
