On November 22, the key equipment and advanced application control technology of the megawatt-class battery energy storage station of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd. passed the expert review, and the construction of the battery energy storage station achieved an important technological breakthrough.
The key equipment of battery energy storage stations includes four parts: batteries, battery management systems, energy conversion systems, and monitoring systems. Advanced application control technology mainly refers to technologies related to advanced application modes such as peak load shaving, island operation, and power quality regulation of battery energy storage stations.
China Southern Power Grid has comprehensively considered multiple factors, including optimal access to battery groups, optimal control of battery life, efficiency of energy conversion systems, power quality, safety protection, coordinated control of energy conversion systems and monitoring systems, and combined with the current mainstream converter topology, and proposed a new design idea for the main circuit of the energy conversion system. This solution is suitable for megawatt-class large-capacity lithium battery energy storage power stations, and realizes comprehensive optimization of economic and multi-technical indicators. The solution proposes the domestically pioneered "time-sharing rotation and dynamic sleep" technology, which is characterized by ensuring that the battery life is consistent when the DC side or the AC side is running at low power, which can greatly extend the battery life.
In terms of advanced application control, China Southern Power Grid has conducted simulation research and verification on functions such as peak shaving, black start, system frequency regulation, and voltage control, and proposed design and implementation solutions. Experts believe that the proposed technical solution is reasonable, the advantages and disadvantages are analyzed and compared thoroughly, and the research results can be used as a technical basis for the development of advanced application modules such as energy conversion system equipment and monitoring systems.
