TDK develops 15mm high flat thin-film photovoltaic inverter capacitor

TDK-EPC, a subsidiary of TDK, has released flat film capacitors with heights of 15mm and 19mm. The original product was 24mm in height. The new products are mainly used for smoothing capacitors, resonant capacitors and AC filters for photovoltaic inverters.

This developed product can make induction cookers, photovoltaic power generation systems, flat-screen TVs, and LED lighting thinner. Previously, the wiring of film capacitors had to be bent and arranged horizontally. This method "not only requires an area for the bent part, but also may reduce reliability against vibration, etc." (TDK-EPC).

To achieve a height of 15 mm or 19 mm, TDK-EPC changed the terminal arrangement of the original product. The height was "determined based on a survey of users" (TDK-EPC).

The rated voltage of the new product is 63 to 2000V DC or 250 to 400V AC, and the electrostatic capacitance is 0.1μ to 82μF. Its maximum operating temperature is 105℃, 110℃ and 125℃ respectively, depending on the type of the capacitor's dielectric. Mass production has begun in November 2011.
