The new solar-powered airship designed by Canadian Solar Airship Company can carry 33 tons and fly infinitely far. This solar-powered airship combines the lightness of airships and the advantages of winged aircraft, and does not require any roads or tracks. It can complete medical emergency, wildlife monitoring, military reconnaissance and heavy cargo transportation in remote areas without landing points or runways.
Airships can be made in any size, from a pickup truck to an 18-wheeler. The largest airship can carry 33 tons of cargo to an infinite distance. The latest prototype has completed a successful test flight, and looks like a giant, helium-filled winged aircraft. Unlike other airships, the solar-powered airship can fly like any other aircraft without helium. Its heavier-than-air shape does not need to be anchored to the ground to prevent it from flying away.
However, the expected advantages of this airship may not be realized all at once soon, but require a gradual improvement process. Canadian Solar Airship is currently working on a prototype version that includes a variety of advanced technologies, such as intelligent electronic systems, high-efficiency solar panels, and lightweight batteries that store renewable energy.
