Everlight Group's solar company Everfang Energy announced today that the company's high-concentration solar cell module conversion efficiency has reached 32.02%. This world record solar module efficiency achievement has been confirmed by the Executive Yuan Atomic Energy Council's Nuclear Energy Research Institute's High-Concentration Solar Cell Module Certification Laboratory test.

The 32.02% module efficiency was achieved by the Paiwan II high-concentration solar module produced by E-Fang Energy. The E-Fang Energy Paiwan II module adopts a new module design concept, designing the battery receiver on the back panel as an independent heat sink, which has a better heat conduction effect, and introduces the latest high-temperature resistant light-conducting adhesive material in the battery packaging surface material. In high-temperature and high direct sunlight working environments, the battery can be packaged into a module to reduce conversion efficiency losses, allowing the module efficiency to be further improved.

Chen Yili, general manager of Yifang, said that this independent cooling system allows high-concentration solar modules to replace and repair single defective battery receivers, saving the cost of repairing the solar system. This important design breakthrough will rewrite the market ecology of after-sales maintenance of solar modules around the world.

Currently, global solar manufacturers are constantly pursuing cost reduction and efficiency improvement, but the only thing they have not been able to overcome is that after the solar system is installed, the battery quality of the module is poor or damaged, resulting in efficiency degradation and a decrease in system power output.

Repairable and replaceable innovative thinking

Chen Yili said that all solar modules on the market are assembled by gluing and sealing to avoid water seepage, leakage and short circuit. When the output efficiency of some cells in the module decreases due to poor quality or packaging, it is necessary to replace the new module and cannot be repaired, which makes the industry face a dilemma between cost and efficiency. The design of independent heat sink combined with single cell packaging has given solar modules a new maintenance and replacement concept, which will bring a new revolution to the solar module market.

The Institute of Nuclear Energy Research (INER) is Taiwan's concentrated solar energy academic and research guidance unit. It also has the only high-concentrated solar energy certification laboratory in Asia, which has passed the US UL certification.

Founded in 2007, E-Fang Energy Technology is jointly invested by E-Fang Chemical, Everlight Electronics, Sanfu Chemical and Futai Engineering. It is the only Taiwanese company that has been qualified to bid for the construction of a solar power plant in Abu Dhabi Green Energy City MSDARCITY. The company also built Taiwan's first 1MW high-concentration solar power plant in Luzhu, Kaohsiung in 2009.
