Solar bridge design purifies the air

It is a solar generator during the day and an LED light source at night - if you think this is the characteristic of the "bridge between buildings", you are wrong. The bridge designed by Sanzpoint Arquitectura can not only change its shape, but also purify the surrounding air.

Inhabitat reports that the design, which won the "Architecture Tower Pedestrian Bridge International Challenge," uses foldable solar panels and air-purifying plants. (Air escapes through holes in a protective membrane covering the bridge, and the movement of this membrane ensures constant ventilation.)

Comprising an outer spiral tube, a tensile membrane, an inner spiral tube and a pedestrian walkway, the Dynamic Helix Bridge has a flexible structure – essential for bridges of this type that are susceptible to wind fluctuations and building vibrations – and sensors that circulate air as pedestrians pass over it.

This "sensitive" design, along with the futuristic LED lights embedded in the outer spiral tubes (which start to flash after dark), makes the bridge an artistic experience as well as a functional urban infrastructure. Because of these additional selling points, the bridge is undoubtedly expensive, but it does show a great vision for the future.
