Recently, the project "Research and Application of Key Technologies of Solar Photovoltaic-Photothermal Composite Systems" led by Xu Zhilong, a senior engineer from the School of Mechanical Engineering of Jilin University, has passed the acceptance of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology.

In short, Xu Zhilong's solar technology can collect the heat from the solar cells and use it to heat water while using solar energy to generate electricity.

Xu Zhilong said that the key technology lies in the use of "solar cell and thermal collector lamination technology" to transfer the heat of the solar cell to the thermal collector, and the heat exchanger on the back of the thermal collector will store the light and heat that cannot be converted into photovoltaics in the hot water tank.

In other words, this technology not only solves the problem of excessive temperature rise of solar cells caused by concentration, but also can obtain a considerable amount of hot water, realizing the comprehensive utilization of efficient and low-cost solar photovoltaic - solar thermal.

So, how much hot water can this solar device generate while generating electricity? Xu Zhilong gave an example, saying that for a solar device with a power generation of 1,000 watts, it can collect 50℃-60℃ hot water equivalent to 2,000 watts of electricity.
