Recently, the reporter learned from the relevant departments of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development that the "Technical Specifications for the Application of Solar Photovoltaic Systems in Civil Buildings" (hereinafter referred to as the "Specifications"), jointly edited by the China Architecture Design & Research Institute and the Solar Building Professional Committee of the China Renewable Energy Society, was recently promulgated. In the future, the design of photovoltaic systems for newly built, rebuilt and expanded civil buildings should be included in the design of construction projects, with unified planning, synchronous design, synchronous construction and synchronous acceptance, and put into use at the same time as the construction project.

According to reports, the "Specifications" were formulated to regulate the promotion and application of solar photovoltaic systems in civil buildings and to promote the integration of photovoltaic systems with buildings. The "Specifications" apply to photovoltaic system projects in newly built, rebuilt and expanded civil buildings, as well as the design, installation, acceptance and operation and maintenance of photovoltaic system projects installed in existing civil buildings or the transformation of installed photovoltaic system projects.

The Code states that the design of photovoltaic systems for civil buildings should have a special design or be part of the design of building electrical engineering. The selection and design of photovoltaic modules or arrays should be combined with the building. Photovoltaic components should be given priority under the premise of comprehensive consideration of power generation efficiency, power generation, electrical and structural safety, applicability and aesthetics, and coordinated with the building module to meet the requirements of installation, cleaning, maintenance and partial replacement. The planning and design of civil buildings that use photovoltaic systems should determine the layout, orientation, spacing, group combination and spatial environment of the building based on the geographical, climatic and solar energy resource conditions of the construction site to meet the technical requirements for the design and installation of photovoltaic systems. The type, installation location, installation method and color of photovoltaic modules should be selected in combination with the building function, building appearance and surrounding environmental conditions to make them an organic part of the building.

The Code requires that photovoltaic modules installed in various parts of buildings or directly forming the building envelope should have live warning signs and corresponding electrical safety protection measures, and should meet the building envelope, building energy conservation, structural safety and electrical safety requirements of the part. When adding or renovating photovoltaic systems on existing buildings, it is necessary to review the building structure safety and building electrical safety, and meet the fire prevention, lightning protection, anti-static and other related functional requirements and building energy conservation requirements of the building where the photovoltaic modules are located. The Code emphasizes that the renovation or installation of photovoltaic systems on existing buildings should be carried out in accordance with the construction project approval procedures for the design, construction and acceptance of special projects.
