At present, ultra-bright LEDs have replaced incandescent lamps and are used in traffic lights, warning lights, and sign lights all over the world. Compared with incandescent lamps, LED traffic lights have the advantages of low power consumption, long service life, and can greatly improve brightness, making them the ideal light source for future traffic lights.
1. Good visibility:
LED traffic lights can still maintain good visibility and performance indicators under adverse weather conditions such as continuous lighting, rain, dust, etc. The light emitted by LED is monochromatic, so there is no need to use color filters to produce red, yellow, and green signal colors; the light emitted by LED is directional and has a certain divergence angle, so the aspherical reflectors used in traditional traffic lights can be discarded. This feature of LED solves the problems of phantom (commonly known as false display) and color filter fading in traditional traffic lights, and improves the light efficiency.
2. Power saving:
The advantages of LED light sources in energy saving are very obvious. One of its notable features is low energy consumption, which is very meaningful for the application of lamps. LED traffic lights almost 100% of the LED excitation energy becomes visible light, compared to incandescent bulbs, 80% of which becomes heat loss and only 20% becomes visible light.
3. Low heat energy:
LEDs convert electrical energy directly into light sources, generating very little heat, almost no heat. The cooled surface of LED traffic lights can prevent maintenance personnel from getting burned and provide a longer lifespan.
4. Long life:
Traffic lights work in a relatively harsh environment, with severe cold and heat, sun and rain, so the reliability of the lights is required to be high. The average life of an incandescent bulb used in a general traffic light is 1000 hours, and the average life of a low-voltage halogen tungsten bulb is 2000 hours, resulting in high maintenance costs. LED traffic lights do not have filament vibration that causes damage, and are less likely to have glass cover cracking problems.
5. Quick response:
What halogen bulbs cannot match LED traffic lights is their fast response time, which reduces the occurrence of traffic accidents.
Due to the important role of traffic lights in urban traffic, a large number of traffic lights need to be updated every year, which in turn leads to a relatively large market. After all, high profits are also conducive to the development of LED production and design companies, and will also have a positive stimulus for the entire LED industry.
