On December 21, 2023, WPG Holdings, a leading international semiconductor component distributor dedicated to the Asia-Pacific market, announced that its subsidiary Quan Ding launched a 2KW PSU server power solution based on Innoscience InnoGaN devices - INN650TA030AH, INN650TA070AH and INN650D080BS chips.

In recent years, the demand for GaN in the industrial field has gradually increased. According to the calculation of AKCP, the energy consumption of network equipment, communication equipment and data centers will account for about 21% of the world's total electricity consumption in 2023, which has become one of the biggest challenges in achieving the goal of "carbon neutrality". Among them, the massive data demand will continue to accelerate the construction of data centers. Therefore, solutions with higher efficiency and higher power density have become an urgent need for data center power supply systems. Under this trend, GD Quan Ding launched a 2KW PSU server power supply solution based on Innoscience InnoGaN devices-INN650TA030AH, INN650TA070AH, and INN650D080BS chips, aiming to use advanced GaN devices to help server power supplies achieve better energy efficiency.

This solution uses InnoGaN 650V GaN chips from Innoscience to achieve power conversion. The PFC slow bridge arm uses two INN650TA030AH chips, which are in Toll package and have an on-resistance of 30mΩ; the PFC fast bridge arm uses two INN650TA070AH chips, which are also in Toll package and have an on-resistance of 70mΩ; the LLC bridge arm uses four INN650D080BS chips, which are in DFN8*8 package and have an on-resistance of 80mΩ. Compared with Si MOS, Innoscience products have the characteristics of low Qg, low Co (tr) and no reverse recovery loss Qrr.
Through efficiency testing, under the condition of input voltage of 230Vac/264Vac, the maximum efficiency of this solution can reach 96.5%, which can easily meet the 80 Plus Titanium energy efficiency standard and further provide efficient power supply for data centers. In addition, in applications such as communication power supply and LED lighting, this solution also has the advantages of small size and high efficiency, and has a wide range of application prospects.

Innoscience has been developing products in the data center field for many years, and has a full-link solution from front-end PSU power supply to motherboard DC/DC module and direct chip power supply. In the future, as the superior performance of GaN gradually emerges, its related technologies will shine in more applications. In this process, WPG will work hand in hand with Innoscience to jointly develop advanced solutions to help customers accelerate the application of GaN technology.
