Designed for heavy-duty consumer electronics, data communications, and industrial applications
Beijing, China, October 18, 2022 – Littelfuse, Inc., a company dedicated to powering a more sustainable, connected and safer world, has announced the launch of a new line of electronic fuse protection integrated circuits, which will include four multifunctional circuit protection devices.
Littelfuse Electronic Fuse Protection ICs
The eFuse protection ICs feature an innovative design that provides a wide power input range (3.3V to 28V) and integrated protection. In addition to overvoltage protection, this series of eFuse protects against overcurrent, short circuit, inrush current, reverse current and overtemperature events, and features real-time diagnostics – all in one chip.
eFuse protection ICs are ideal for use in a wide variety of consumer electronics and data communications interfaces, including:
• Bluetooth headset
• Wearable devices
• Tablet
• Charging cable
• Battery equipment
• Adapter powered devices
• Network equipment
• Personal computer/laptop
• Data communication power supply system
• Fan power control
• HDD and SSD storage drives
• Industrial 12V/24 power input/output
“The eFuse protection IC combines powerful circuit protection, sensing and control in a single chip, providing tremendous flexibility to today’s electronics designers,” said Bernie Hsieh, assistant product manager for Littelfuse’s protection semiconductor business team. “Its ability to provide a low-power, high-precision current-limiting circuit with a fast response time is a win-win-win for many portable electronics and datacom applications.”
Electronic fuse protection ICs offer several key advantages:
• Provides a highly accurate current limiter with faster response time and more integrated protection features than traditional fuses and PTCs
• Greater flexibility than traditional power switches, such as adjustable overvoltage threshold, current limit and inrush current, and true reverse current blocking
• Reduces design phase time and time to market while reducing PC board space requirements and BOM cost compared to typical discrete solutions (such as hot-swap controller + MOSFET)
• Improve product reliability, extend battery life, reduce repair costs, and extend the overall useful life of the product
Electronic fuse protection integrated circuits have the following series :
• LS0504EVT233 - 5V, 4A, overvoltage, overcurrent protection, SOT23-3 package
• LS0505EVD22 - 5V, 5A, overvoltage, overcurrent protection, DFN2x2 package
• LS1205ExD33 - 18V, 5A, Programmable Current Limit, Output Voltage Clamp, DFN3x3 Package
• LS2406ERQ23 - 28V, 6A, true reverse blocking, fast role swap, QFN2.5x3.2 package
Availability
The eFuse protection ICs are available in tape and reel packaging with a minimum order quantity of 3,000 (LS0504EVT23, LS0505EVD22) or 5,000 (LS1205ExD33, LS2406ERQ23). Sample requests are available through authorized Littelfuse distributors worldwide. A list of Littelfuse authorized distributors is available at Littelfuse.com.
