Powerbox is one of the largest power supply companies in Europe. It has been a leading force in optimizing power solutions for high-demand applications for more than 40 years and has released a 1200WAC/DC power supply OFI1200A for industrial applications.
OFI1200A optimizes conduction cooling and can operate efficiently in a baseplate temperature range of -40℃ to +95℃ without the need for fans for cooling
. It has a universal input voltage of 85 to 305VAC with power factor correction (PFC). It has a wide range of applications, and the output voltage and current can be adjusted from near zero to the maximum value allowed for each model.
Many industrial applications require power supplies to operate with limited or no ventilation cooling. In this regard, power supplies operating in harsh environments where electronic equipment is mounted in sealed boxes, radio communication systems subject to severe weather conditions, outdoor displays and traffic signals, and indoor equipment with very strict audible noise limits, in addition to environmental requirements, reliability and maintenance costs also motivate system designers to avoid using fans and blowers.
Cooling requires very specific construction practices, and PRBX's OFI1200A is designed to ensure optimal heat transfer from the heatsink assembly to the baseplate, providing high performance over the baseplate's operating range of -40°C to +95°C. Depending on assembly method and overall cooling conditions, output derating may be applied as specified in the technical documentation.
To cover a wide range of applications, the OFI1200A can operate over a universal input range of 85 to 305VAC (100 to 277VAC nominal) . The device includes a PFC with a coefficient of 0.98/0.95 (110VAC/230VAC).
OFI1200A is available in three versions of single output DC voltage, 12V/84A, 28V/43A and 48V/25A. Due to the use of efficient topology, the 48V output unit has a typical efficiency of up to 92% at 230VAC input.
Industrial applications such as professional lighting and even low-power electrolyzers require power supplies that provide a constant current that must be easily adjustable. Often, such equipment operates in environments that require the electronics to be enclosed and protected from hazards. This requires the power supply to provide external control to adjust the output voltage and/or current from the maximum allowed to near zero.
To allow customers to precisely adjust the voltage and current for their application, the OFI1200A provides two analog inputs, VTRM and ITRM. Using these features, the output voltage and current can be adjusted from near zero to the maximum value specified for each model. For example, the 28V output can be adjusted from near zero volts up to 33.6V, and the output current can be adjusted from near zero amps up to 43A, or the output voltage can be adjusted using the provided onboard potentiometer.
Extended trimming and control features simplify using the power supply in constant voltage (CV) or cross-current (CC) modes without adding external circuitry.
For applications requiring redundancy or higher power, up to nine units can be connected in parallel, providing an impressive total power level of up to 9720W in conduction-cooled mode. To maintain maximum efficiency in parallel or redundant mode, the OFI1200A28 and OFI1200A48 offer an optional active ORing circuit using high-performance FET technology (Option-O).
For safety reasons, the OFI1200A has an IN/OUT isolation voltage of 3000VAC, an IN/FG isolation voltage of 2000VAC, and an FG output isolation of 500VAC. The power supply includes over-current protection, over-voltage, and over-temperature protection with automatic recovery.
OFI1200A circuit board Includes easy access to auxiliary functions via on-board connectors, namely: remote control, output voltage sensing, power monitoring, VTRM, ITRM.
OFI1200A has passed the shock and vibration tests specified in MIL-STD-810H. In this regard, the product has been tested to levels far above normal operating conditions, and the power supply is designed to withstand shocks of up to 20G.
The OFI1200A open frame measures 142 x 39 x 260mm (5.59 x 1.54 x 10.36 in) and weighs a maximum of 1.2kg. An optional metal cover adds only 1mm of height and 200g of weight (Option -N).
Thanks to a design optimized for conduction cooling, the OFI1200A is suitable for applications that require a silent power solution, such as control rooms. It is also suitable for industrial applications where forced ventilation is not possible due to environmental constraints. Connected to a chassis or cold plate, the OFI1200A can provide impressive power levels and a high degree of reliability.
OFI1200A has passed the certification of UL62368-1 3rd edition, cUL (equivalent to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.62368-1).
The OFI1200A series has a three-year warranty and complies with the European RoHS, REACH and Low Voltage Directives. The product carries the CE, UKCA and cURus marks.
Powerbox's new 1200W OFI1200A power supply is optimized for conduction cooling required for demanding industrial applications
