Pickering Electronics launches new high voltage SIL/SIP reed relay with higher coil resistance and lower power consumption
3kV cut-off voltage; mu-metal magnetic shielding enables compact relay arrangement
Clacton-on-Sea, UK, 30 September 2021: Pickering Electronics, a leading manufacturer of miniaturised and high performance reed relays with over 50 years’ experience, has announced the launch of its 100HV Series of high voltage single in-line plug-in (SIL)/SIP reed relays, offering a maximum cut-off voltage rating of 3kV and more than double the coil resistance of previous products. The high range of relays is ideal for transformer and cable testing, or any other automated test equipment requiring high voltage but low coil power consumption.
Kevin Mallett, technical specialist at Pickering Electronics, explains the new products: “The 100HV Series relays are ideal for applications where supply voltages need to be switched, such as controlling and isolating silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCRs) or triac gates. In mixed-signal applications, the relays’ lower coil power reduces the thermal EMF voltages generated by the switch.”
The 100HV series offers three types of reed switches with cut-off voltages of 1.5kVdc, 2 kVdc or 3kVdc. The 3 kV version features a larger gap between the switch and coil pins to accommodate higher voltages. In addition, reed switches with higher voltages are available on request. In addition, the relays in this series feature internal mu-metal magnetic shielding to avoid problems caused by magnetic interactions in close proximity.
The new high voltage SIL/SIP reed relays offer one or two switches in one package and are available in 1 Form A, 2 Form A and 1 Form B configurations. In addition, they are available in 5V, 12V or 24V coil voltages and can be equipped with an internal diode. For more information, please click here.
About Pickering Electronics
Pickering Electronics has been producing high quality reed relays for instrumentation and test equipment for over 50 years. Pickering's SIL/SIP range of relays is the most sophisticated in the industry and is only one quarter the size of many competing products. These small SIL/SIP reed relays are sold in large quantities to major ATE and semiconductor companies around the world.
Pickering Electronics is part of the privately held Pickering Group, which comprises three electronics manufacturers: Pickering Interfaces, which designs and produces modular signal switching and simulation products, and Pickering Connect, which designs and produces cables and connectors.
