How to solve the "three highs and one low" in LED display technology

"Three highs and one low" actually refers to the high color rendering, high light efficiency, high reliability and low cost in LED display technology. How to achieve low cost while making the quality of LED display reach the "three highs"? This requires a series of measures to be taken in all links of the LED display industry chain. Such as the use of new technologies, new structures, new processes, new materials, etc. As an emerging industry, the technical aspects of LED display are highly valued and are also the core issues in the overall process.

The following analysis is mainly based on "three highs and one low", namely high color rendering, high light efficiency, high reliability and low cost:

First of all, from the perspective of high color rendering: LED display screens have many light color qualities, including color temperature, color rendering, light color fidelity, light color naturalness, color tone recognition, visual comfort, etc. Here we are currently only discussing how to solve the color temperature and color rendering problems. Making a high color rendering full-color LED display light source will lose a lot of light efficiency, so these two factors must be taken into account during the design. Of course, to improve high color rendering, the combination of RGB three primary colors must also be considered to achieve it. Here I also have three methods:

1. Multi-primary color phosphor.

2. RGB multi-chip combination.

3. Phosphor plus chip.

High light efficiency: The light efficiency of LED electronic display screens can be said to be an important indicator of energy saving. At present, my country still needs to strengthen its light efficiency. To truly achieve high light efficiency, we need to solve relevant technical problems in all links of the industrial chain. So how to achieve high light efficiency? This article will specifically discuss the technical problems to be solved in several links such as epitaxy, chips, packaging, and lamps.

1. Improve internal quantum efficiency and external quantum efficiency.

2. Improve the light output efficiency of the package and reduce the junction temperature.

3. Improve the light collection efficiency of lamps.

The second is from the perspective of high reliability: mainly including failure rate, lifespan and other indicators. However, there are different understandings and explanations in applications. High reliability refers to the ability of a product to complete specified functions under specified conditions and within a specified time. LED failure categories mainly include serious failure and parameter failure. Lifespan is a representation value of product reliability. If LED display manufacturers want to have good control over the overall quality of the display, they need to do the following two things:

Prolong the time of loss of effectiveness.

Reduce failure rate.

Finally, in terms of reducing product costs: Currently, many consumers feel that the price of LED display screens is too high, so many LED display screen manufacturers have also taken corresponding measures to reduce costs. In addition to mass production, they mainly take technical measures to reduce costs. The main method is to reduce costs in epitaxial chips, packaging, driving, heat dissipation, etc., so as to fundamentally solve the cost problem of LED display screen products. Specifically, it is discussed from the following four aspects:

Methods to reduce costs in the epitaxial chip segment.

Methods to reduce costs in the packaging process.

Methods to reduce costs in the lighting chip segment.

Reduction of other supporting costs

The above mainly solves the main technologies and takes corresponding measures for LED display screens from the four major technical aspects of high color rendering, high light efficiency, high reliability and low cost. In general, in addition to achieving high light efficiency, high color rendering, high reliability and low cost of LED display screens through the adoption of new technologies, new processes, new structures, new materials and other measures, from a deeper level, improving energy efficiency and light color quality should be regarded as a higher requirement for full-color LED display screens, so as to truly provide people with product demand! Only when LED manufacturers start from the most basic, from all aspects of production, and with the cooperation of various material supply links of each display screen, can the comprehensive quality of LED display screens be fully improved.
