This article mainly introduces the structure and functions of the junction box, a packaging material for solar cell modules:

1. Structure of the junction box
Generally, a junction box consists of a box cover, a box body, wiring terminals, diodes, connecting wires, and connectors.
2. Functions of each part
The shell should have strong anti-aging and UV resistance capabilities;
Meet the requirements for use in harsh outdoor environments;
The self-locking function makes the connection more convenient and firm;
It must have a waterproof sealing design, scientific anti-electric shock insulation protection, and better safety performance; the wiring terminals must be installed firmly and have good weldability with the busbar.
Diodes are divided into bypass diodes and anti-recoil diodes. The main function of a diode is unidirectional conduction.
Bypass diode: Its main function is to prevent the hot spot effect of components.
Hot spot effect: When a solar cell module is in use, part of the cell is blocked by foreign objects, and it will be treated as a load to consume the energy generated by other solar cell modules with light. The temperature of the blocked solar cell will continue to rise and generate heat, which is the hot spot effect. If a foreign object blocks the cell and causes part of the cell to not work, the temperature of the part of the cell will continue to rise and generate heat, which will eventually cause the cell to burn out.
When the solar panel is working normally, the bypass diode will not work, but when it encounters the hot spot effect, the bypass diode will automatically bypass the battery string and connect to other battery strings to continue working. The main function of the bypass diode we use now is to prevent the battery from burning out.
Anti-recoil diode: The component prevents the battery current from flowing backward when there is no light.
Connectors and connecting wires: They have good insulation performance, and the male and female plugs have a self-locking function, which makes the solar panel and electrical connection more convenient and reliable.
Functions of the junction box:
1. Enhance the safety performance of solar cell modules
2. Seal the current output part (lead part) of the solar cell module
3. Make the use of solar cell modules more convenient and reliable.
