Analogic Tech has announced the launch of the AAT282X active matrix thin-film transistor (TFT) liquid crystal display ( LCD ) DC/DC converter product group, including a W LED driver and VCOM buffer, providing a fully integrated power solution for portable backlight displays . The main application targets of this solution include automotive displays, digital photo frames, netbooks, e-books , and handheld GPS navigation devices.
"Integrating portable displays into consumer products presents unique and challenging requirements that require long battery life, better energy efficiency and tighter energy management," said Ray Chan, Technical Marketing Manager at Analogic Tech. "Our products are designed with these requirements in mind, providing flexible and efficient solutions for backlit active-matrix TFT LCD screens ranging from 5 to 10 inches, giving portable device manufacturers a significant competitive advantage."
The AAT282X is part of the AnalogicTech integrated panel power solution product group, which uses built-in low-power positive and negative charge pumps to achieve higher efficiency, lower fluctuations and tighter modulation, ultimately outputting 30V symmetrical VGH and VGL voltages. The AAT282X boost converter operates at voltages as low as 2.5V, and its structure is ideal for a variety of portable backlight display devices.
The flagship device of the AAT2822 includes a triple output DC-DC converter for powering the row and column array gate drivers , a 28V W LED backlight driver, and a VCOM buffer for distributing the medium reference voltage across the display . Depending on the display requirements, the AAT282X product group offers additional solutions for related functions, such as removing the VCOM buffer and backlight options, providing design flexibility to meet all the unique features required for any specific display design.
To minimize board space, all members of the AAT282X family are available in compact 4mm x 4mm lead-free T QFN packages. When embedded in the optional evaluation board, the entire solution fits into a 30mm x 21mm footprint.
