OLED relies on its own light to display images, does not require a backlight, is not affected by ambient light, and generally has a lifespan of about 5,000 times.
TFT is an active matrix liquid crystal, which requires the brightness of the backlight to display images and is affected by the surrounding light. Its general life span is about 20,000 times.
OLED LCD screen
OLED (Organic Light Emitting Display) is fundamentally different from traditional LCD display methods, that is, it does not require a backlight source. It uses a very thin organic material coating and a glass substrate. When current passes through, these organic materials will emit light. Therefore, OLED LCD screens can be made lighter and thinner, with a wider viewing angle and more power-saving. However, the service life is short and the screen cannot be made larger. OLED is mostly used for the external screen of foldable mobile phones.
TFT LCD screen
TFT (Thin-Film Transistor) is the abbreviation of thin-film transistor. It is the current top-grade material for LCD screens. It is an active matrix type LCD screen. It has a special lamp on the back that can "actively" control each independent pixel on the screen. This is what we often call active matrix TFT. It has a relatively fast response time of about 80 milliseconds and a large viewing angle, usually reaching about 130 degrees. It is used in some high-end models. Since the arrangement of TFT LCD screens has memory, it will not return to its original state immediately after the current disappears, which effectively improves the ability to play dynamic images. The disadvantage is that it consumes more power and has a relatively high manufacturing cost.
The purchase price of OLED color screen is 30% more expensive than that of TFT color screen of the same size! The biggest difference between true color OLED screen and TFT screen is that OLED true color screen has a very high screen contrast and a fuller color reproduction. In terms of backlight resistance and brightness, OLED true color screen is better than TFT screen.
