Opportunities and Challenges:

1. The current global environmental protection trend is unstoppable, the world's automobile industry is facing difficulties, and the automobile energy revolution has become an imminent matter.

2. The only way for China's automobile industry to develop is to take the path of energy conservation and new energy

3. The introduction of national policies to encourage new energy vehicles has fully mobilized the enthusiasm of enterprises

4. The government should speed up the formulation of policies to promote and popularize these new energy vehicles and establish corresponding supporting facilities

5. New energy vehicles such as hydrogen energy for the longer term have also begun to be explored and have achieved initial results

The "2009 China New Energy Vehicle Summit Forum" initiated and hosted by Auto Tribe Magazine was recently held in Beijing. This is the first high-level summit in the automotive industry with new energy as the theme in my country. The relevant department personnel and experts and scholars attending the meeting had an in-depth discussion on the future development of China's new energy vehicles.

Participants believe that the current global environmental protection trend is unstoppable, the world's automobile industry is facing difficulties, and the automobile energy revolution has become an urgent matter. Wang Binggang, a specially appointed expert and professor-level senior engineer of the Office of the Major Project of Energy-Saving and New Energy Automobiles under the 863 Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, said: "In a few years, the development of China's automobile industry will have to slow down. In addition to the insurmountable difficulty of energy, China also has to pay attention to the global carbon dioxide emission problem. Therefore, the only way for China's automobile industry to develop is to take the road of energy conservation and new energy."

Experts attending the meeting believe that at present we should not only produce cars with low fuel consumption, low emissions and greater energy efficiency, but also accelerate the research and development, production and application of new energy vehicles.

He Guangyuan, Honorary President of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said that in recent years, driven by relevant state departments, a large number of automobile companies have invested in the research and development of new energy vehicles and have made certain progress. In particular, this year, the state has introduced policies to encourage new energy vehicles, and the enthusiasm of enterprises has been fully mobilized. However, we must also pay attention to the follow-up of scientific research and development of key components of these new energy vehicles, such as high-performance batteries, control systems, and key materials. We must master core technologies, make them pass the test in terms of performance, quality and reliability, and form scale. For the government, it should also speed up the formulation of policies to promote and popularize these new energy vehicles and establish corresponding supporting facilities.

The automobile representatives at the meeting said that the research and development of new energy vehicles in China has become diversified. In recent years, domestic automobile companies have made great breakthroughs in hybrid and pure electric technologies. For example, SAIC, Chery, Changan, BYD, Foton and others have launched hybrid and pure electric vehicles, which will soon be mass-produced if policies and facilities are in place. At the same time, new energy vehicles such as hydrogen energy, which are oriented to the longer term in the future, have also begun to be explored and have achieved initial results.

Gu Xianghua, deputy secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, believes that implementing the new energy vehicle strategy, actively developing new automobile energy-saving technologies, vigorously promoting the use of energy-saving and new energy vehicles, promoting the adjustment of the automobile industry structure and industrial technology upgrading, and forming an energy-saving and new energy vehicle strategic industry as soon as possible have become major strategic choices for the future development of my country's automobile industry.
