In recent years, investment in LED lighting has been "hot" and even frenzied. Due to the "ruthlessness" of many problems in applications, people's minds have been forced to become clear, and the understanding of LED lighting has returned to a rational track, forcing some people with dizzy heads to start thinking calmly.

Through the phenomenon of "frenzy", we should seriously reflect on our understanding of LED lighting to correct our way of thinking, strategic development direction and scientific research methods.

However, at present, many people have fallen into two misunderstandings about LED light sources , lighting and applications.

Misunderstanding 1: Chip is equal to light source Electric light sources have strict technical standards, and have strict requirements on many indicators such as illumination , lumen , color rendering, color temperature , power , light decay, harmonics, life, etc. This is itself the result of more than a hundred years of technological progress in electric light sources. Although a chip or a PN junction is a light source in a broad sense, it is only a light-emitting element in terms of standard electric light sources, and is by no means a standard electric light source. Making chips into various standard electric light sources is not a simple patchwork, but a scientific design and combination, which requires a lot of technological innovation in materials, electronics and other related fields, as well as a lot of scientific experiments. Therefore, chips are not equal to electric light sources with strict standard requirements in the modern sense. However, many "experts" or "officials" steal concepts in their speeches, confuse common sense, ignore science, and blindly promote. Such experts or local government agencies promote LED lighting, either pretending to "understand" when they "don't understand", or pretending to "understand" when they "understand". They all have ulterior motives, spend the country's money and fill the pockets of interests of all parties. Misconception 2: Light source equals lighting It's true that there is "light" to illuminate. Torches, candles, and oil lamps have all been historical lighting sources, and they are still playing a role in lighting in some areas without electricity. But in the 21st century, those are primitive lighting after all, which are lighting that is adapted to the social form and productivity level at that time. Today, if you use an LED chip Compared with torches and oil lamps, it will definitely be ridiculed, and someone will definitely say that LED lighting is high-tech. But an indisputable fact is that some people regard a single light source, a PN junction, as a light source and as the entire lighting, and they are "fooling themselves". Due to the characteristics of LED light sources, such as the strong directivity of light emission, the need for heat dissipation, drive and optical processing, this determines that LED as a light source must be "the maturity of the entire system". In this sense, or from the perspective of modern lighting, the light is not necessarily a "lamp". As far as LED lighting is concerned, a single light source is by no means equal to lighting. There is a long way to go from a PN junction to a light source in the modern sense, to scientific lighting adapted to the environment, and green lighting. This includes the continuous deepening of the understanding of LED lighting, the progress of materials and technology, the secondary development of equipment manufacturing and application products, especially the maturity of the system, the appropriate cost performance and large-scale production. If these points cannot be achieved, large-scale promotion and application is just a beautiful "vision".
