With the development of science and technology, foreign scientists have developed a new type of lighting source, plasma lamp, after continuous attempts. Plasma lamp is a new type of electromagnetic wave that has emerged in the energy field in recent years. It excites the luminous material in the electrodeless glass lamp ball, so that the luminous material produces a continuous visible spectrum, while only emitting trace amounts of UV and IR. It is a high-efficiency lighting system. At the 2010 Performance Equipment Technology and Stage Art Development Summit Forum, Professor Peng Miaoyan, Director of the Institute of Audiovisual and Lighting Technology of Guangzhou University, proposed that LED lamps and plasma lamps have become a competitive development relationship.
The era of LED lighting has arrived. Known as the fourth-generation light source, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are currently developing the fastest and are considered to be a new type of light source with broad prospects.
LED has many advantages:
(1) Long lifespan, up to 100,000 hours. (Incandescent lamps only last less than 1,000 hours)
(2) Low power consumption and energy saving. (The above are the two most important advantages of LED)
(3) The structure is solid.
(4) Short startup time.
(5) The light source is close to an electric light source and is very small in size.
(6) It can be made into a thin lamp.
LED is currently widely used in the field of lighting. The more mature applications of LED lighting technology include signal lighting, landscape lighting, local lighting (such as table lamps) and large-screen video display, and it is gradually entering the field of stage lighting.
LED is developing rapidly, but there are also shortcomings that need to be overcome:
(1) Insufficient brightness;
(2) The price is too high;
(3) Single variety: single plane arrangement mode, the beam cannot be adjusted (the light spot cannot be adjusted);
(4) Sensitive to temperature: The heat dissipation problem is difficult to solve.
So, for LED to be widely used in general lighting, the following problems need to be solved:
(1) Sufficient luminous flux, more than 1,000 lumens;
(2) The light color is close to white light;
(3) Good color rendering;
(4) Appropriate price;
(5) For artistic lighting or signal lighting, the light emitted by the LED itself is directly viewed; for general lighting, the object illuminated by the LED is indirectly viewed.
The above points, especially points 1, 4, and 5, are still the weaknesses of LED and need to be further resolved.
New light source plasma light source becomes LED competitor New light source plasma light source is currently becoming LED competitor. Plasma lamp is considered to be a promising fourth-generation light source that can compete with LED due to its high light efficiency, long life, high color rendering and other characteristics. According to the information: LED's current advantage is that it is more suitable for low and medium illumination applications; the advantage of plasma lamp is that it focuses on high illumination lighting.
Plasma lamps have many advantages
(1) The luminous efficiency of LIFI lamps currently available is approximately in the range of 60LM/W to 120LM/W.
(2) The color rendering index (CRI) of LIFI lamps has increased from 80 to 96 in recent years.
(3) The color temperature of LIFI lamps is in the range of 6500K to 10000K.
(4) The life of a LIFI lamp is 10,000 hours or even longer, which means that if it is lit for 8 hours a day, it can work for 3 years and 4 months.
(5) LIFI lamps are particularly suitable for commercial lighting, street lighting, architectural lighting, and film and television stage entertainment lighting.
1. LIFI can start quickly One of the advantages of LIFI is that it has a high-speed startup function comparable to LED. For ultra-high-pressure mercury lamps, it usually takes 30 seconds from emitting light to stabilizing, so it gives people the impression that related products start slowly. However, the startup time of LIFI only takes 1 to 2 seconds, which is almost the same as LED.
2. Long service life.
Mercury lamps have a service life of several thousand hours, while LIFI has a long lifespan like LEDs, and basically does not need to be replaced.
The theoretical lifespan is 25,000 hours, and the fixed brightness decreases by 80%, which is basically the same service life as LCD and plasma TVs. As a product, it does not need to be replaced by the user himself.
3. The breadth of the color gamut is comparable to that of LED. In terms of the spectrum, the red and blue luminous colors have surpassed LED. Although the green luminous color is not as good as the former, it has also surpassed the mercury system. According to the color gamut seen at TOTAL, it has reached 144% of sRGB, which is really amazing.
The reason for these advantages is ultimately due to its operating principle. LIFI still uses the shape of a spherical bulb, so it cannot be used as a mercury lamp. A compound of siliceous gas and metal halogen is sealed inside the bulb. First, an electric field is generated inside, so that the internal siliceous gas is ionized to produce ions. Then the ionized siliceous gas and halogen processed materials are vaporized. The two are allowed to fuse together to produce white light.
According to the information: LED's current advantage is that it is more suitable for low and medium illumination applications. The advantage of plasma lamps is that they focus on the field of high illumination artistic lighting. Plasma lamps are considered to be a promising fourth-generation light source that can compete with LEDs due to their high light efficiency, long life, and high color rendering.
