The top 50 security companies are offering more and more cost-effective solutions. These companies are no longer focusing solely on the high-end segment. SMB (sales for business) solutions are more viable in these turbulent years. Products for high-end applications continue to be developed while new products are introduced at lower price points, thereby taking advantage of the highly price-elastic demand in several emerging markets.
The top 50 security companies are increasingly offering cost-effective solutions. These companies are no longer focused solely on the high-end. SMB solutions are more viable during these turbulent years. "Some markets have grown in size and breadth, while prices have fallen, and new applications are emerging as volume increases," Flir said in prepared remarks. "These markets are not only large but also growing rapidly, and many of these markets show low penetration of infrared technology. Our strategy in this business is to continue to develop products for high-end applications while introducing new products at lower price points to take advantage of highly price-elastic demand in several emerging markets."
"The majority of network cameras are still used in high-end projects, where the system supports more than 16 cameras," Gallon said. "Now is a great time to enter the small system market for SMB projects, which supports 1 to 16 cameras. This market has great potential. Small systems support up to 16 cameras, and Axis Communications launched a video surveillance solution for these small systems in April 2012. Each network camera has local (edge) storage. It is an embedded system and the VMS can be downloaded free of charge. The product is aimed at retail stores, offices and hotels, and is starting to be launched in some mature markets such as the United States and Europe, followed by Japan and South Korea in Asia. As a global leader in network cameras, we are focused on our role in promoting the intersection of 'security and network'. Axis Communications has taken an important step in promoting the integration of the two into the small system market."
The other two giant companies: Bosch and Honeywell have also developed specific solutions for SMB applications by launching their own AdvantageLine and BLACK brands.
