IODT is an important step in verifying that a terminal device complies with the new 5G specifications. This test ensures that a 5G communication link is established and maintained between a terminal device and a base station according to pre-selected test conditions.

The RedCap interoperability testing conducted by Keysight and MediaTek validated MediaTek's 5G Modem technology supports early identification, bandwidth part (BWP) definition, user equipment capabilities, radio resource management (RRM) relaxation, network control device synchronization signal block (NCD-SSB), sounding reference signal (SRS) enhancement, extended discontinuous reception (eDRX), and PUCCH for frequency hopping. The 5G NR IODT validated the chipset's support for the latest Rel-17 features, including power saving, small data transmission, and NR coverage enhancement.

“MediaTek is committed to driving market advancement of 5G NR Rel-17 and RedCap technologies,” said Dr. Heqi Huang, general manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications System Development Unit. “We are collaborating with Keysight to develop the most advanced 5G modem platform and foster a growing ecosystem of 5G device innovators.”

"Keysight and MediaTek are working together to help device manufacturers use the most innovative test solutions for interoperability testing to continue accelerating the deployment of 5G NR Release 17," said Cao Peng, vice president and general manager of Keysight's Wireless Test Group. "We continue to provide customers with flexible deployment solutions to help them prepare for the launch of commercial 5G NR and RedCap device markets."
