A 999kHz sine signal is added to the primary, and the sine waveform is observed with an oscilloscope.

On the secondary side of the coupled inductor, a sinusoidal waveform is observed with an amplitude of about half the primary voltage.

The sinusoidal voltage waveforms on the primary and secondary coils of the coupled inductor can be observed simultaneously with a dual-trace oscilloscope, and their phases are the same.

When we change the winding direction of the secondary coil, the phases of the voltage waveforms on the primary and secondary coils of the coupled inductor are opposite.

In order to distinguish between the two situations, it is necessary to determine the terminals of the same name of the coupling inductor. The two red (or green) terminal buttons of the coupling inductor coil in the figure are a pair of terminals of the same name. When the positive poles of the primary and secondary voltage reference directions are both at the same terminal, their phases are the same.
