Radar level meter is an instrument that uses electromagnetic wave technology to perform non-contact liquid level measurement. The main functional units in the radar level meter are divided into signal transmitter and receiver, signal processor, antenna device and signal display, etc. Radar level meter has the characteristics of non-contact operation. It can measure the measured material scientifically and accurately without touching it during the measurement process, so it has a wider range of applications in the field of chemical production. Compared with ultrasonic level meter, the signal emitted by the radar level meter signal transmitter is an electromagnetic wave signal. Electromagnetic waves do not require any propagation medium during the transmission process, so radar level meter can also be used in a vacuum state. So, what are the precautions for the selection and application of radar level meter in the chemical industry?
When selecting a radar level meter, you need to pay attention to the following points:
First, the dielectric constant of the measured medium will have a certain impact on the electromagnetic wave transmission of the radar level meter, and the larger the dielectric constant, the more obvious the reflection effect of the electromagnetic wave, and the more favorable it is for the accuracy of the measurement results. For example, when a chemical production enterprise in a certain area of China chooses a liquid level meter, it will only choose a radar level meter if the dielectric constant is above 1.4. If it is lower than 1.4, it will choose a guided wave radar level meter;
Second, for large spherical tanks and dome tanks that store raw materials such as asphalt, refined oil, crude oil, liquefied petroleum gas and liquefied natural gas, a chemical unit in a certain region of my country chose an antenna-type radar level meter. For liquid level measurement of storage tanks with agitators, internal floating roof tanks, external floating roof tanks, etc., a chemical unit in a certain region of my country chose a guided wave radar level meter. This selection method is conducive to improving the accuracy of the measurement results while protecting the measuring instrument.
The liquid level measurement of chemical plants in the chemical industry is relatively complex, and there are many types of liquid level measurement instruments involved in the actual work process. Comprehensively analyzing and mastering the specific usage conditions and measurement requirements of various common types of liquid level meters, and selecting liquid level meters with stronger safety, easier installation and maintenance, more accurate measurement and better cost performance for liquid level measurement of chemical plants are the most basic requirements for workers and technicians in related fields.
