The sensitivity of electret microphones, which are widely used in radio recorders, telephones and other electrical appliances, directly affects the transmission and recording and playback effects. The sensitivity of this type of microphone can be simply tested with a multimeter.

Set the multimeter to R&TImes;100, connect the two test leads to the two electrodes of the microphone (be careful not to connect them to the ground electrode of the microphone by mistake), and when the multimeter displays a certain reading, blow gently into the microphone with your mouth (blow slowly and evenly), and observe the swing amplitude of the needle while blowing. The greater the swing amplitude of the needle at the moment of blowing, the higher the sensitivity of the microphone, and the better the effect of sending and recording. If the swing amplitude is not large (micromotion) or does not swing at all, it means that the performance of this microphone is poor and it is not suitable for use.
