There are many functions on the multimeter, so today let’s talk about how to use the resistance range of the multimeter to measure the resistance value!

  1. Before using the multimeter, we must first check whether the surface of the multimeter is damaged. Then check whether the red and black test leads are damaged.

  2. After checking everything is correct, we connect the black test lead to the COM terminal of the multimeter and the red test lead to the resistor terminal. Then switch the gear to the diode end position and short-circuit the red and black test leads (this is to detect whether there is any internal damage). After short-circuiting, there will normally be a sound and a weak value display, which proves that the multimeter can be used normally. If there is a battery symbol like the one below, it means that the multimeter is low on power and the battery needs to be replaced in time.

  3. After checking that everything is correct, we can start testing the resistor. If we don't know the resistance value, we can set the resistance range to the maximum range (the minimum range is also OK, if we want to measure the unknown current, we need to set it to the maximum current range), and then gradually reduce the range until the multimeter reads the resistance value, so that the resistance value of the resistor can be measured.

As shown in the picture, the multimeter I set is 20k, and the multimeter shows 11.00. So the actual resistance value of the resistor I measured is 11kΩ.
