 The high-resolution mode of the R&S RTO and R&S RTE series oscilloscopes can achieve 16-bit vertical resolution, which is 256 times higher than 8-bit accuracy. The waveform is more detailed and can display signal details that are submerged in noise. Users can also get more accurate test results.


  The high-resolution option of the R&S RTO and R&S RTE oscilloscopes is used in application scenarios that require high vertical resolution, especially for detecting small voltage signal details in high voltage signals. For example, the characteristic analysis of switching power supplies. The voltage difference between the switch tube when it is turned on and off is several hundred volts, so it is necessary to measure the small voltage with high precision.


  The high-resolution mode improves the vertical resolution of the R&S oscilloscope to 16 bits, which is 256 times higher than the 8-bit accuracy. High resolution is achieved by low-pass filtering the signal after the ADC. This is based on the low-pass filter to filter out noise and improve the signal-to-noise ratio. We can adjust the low-pass filter bandwidth (10KHz-500MHz) according to the characteristics of the tested signal. The smaller the bandwidth, the higher the resolution.


  In high-resolution mode, you can see finer waveforms and display signal details that are drowned by noise. The vertical range of the oscilloscope needs to be set to 500uv/div to analyze the details of these signals. Based on the low noise front end and high-precision single-core ADC of the oscilloscope, R&S RTO and R&S RTE have excellent dynamic range and test accuracy. Switching to high-resolution mode can test more accurate results.


  The unique digital trigger system of R&S oscilloscope can trigger the signal with the highest resolution, compare the sampling point with the trigger condition up to 16 bits, and realize the trigger. This means that when triggering on small signals, R&S oscilloscope can isolate and trigger smaller signals.


  Switching to high-resolution mode does not affect test speed and functionality. The digital filter in the oscilloscope's ASIC circuit can improve resolution and noise suppression, and the capture rate and processing speed are still very fast when doing real-time processing, so test results can be obtained quickly. In addition, all of the oscilloscope's analysis tools , such as automated testing, FFT analysis, and history mode, can be used in high-precision mode.
