Keysight Technologies, a developer of electronic measurement and test systems, announced today that its E6953A V2X test set has been certified by the OmniAir Consortium.
Automakers and their suppliers are actively investing in V2X technology to improve the safety and efficiency of connected vehicle applications. Similarly, departments of transportation (DOTs), highway agencies and road operators around the world are trialing and deploying V2X technology to improve the safety and efficiency of their transportation networks.
As the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), toll collection and connected vehicles, the OmniAir Consortium has now awarded its OmniAir Qualified Test Equipment (OQTE) certification to Keysight's E6953A V2X test system. OmniAir certification requires a long and detailed verification process, the ultimate goal of which is to ensure that in-vehicle communication equipment and related software meet global industry requirements for interoperability and compliance.
With OmniAir certification, Keysight's E6953A DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication) V2X test solution now provides automotive OEMs and suppliers and other connected car companies with the standard that their onboard unit (OBU) or roadside unit (RSU) equipment and software will pass global industry requirements for interoperability and compliance with current standards and regulations.
Currently, the organization has only verified three OmniAir test tools. OmniAir has certified Keysight's V2X test solution to verify the physical layer (PHY) and protocol conformance in V2X according to the OmniAir Consortium's DSRC test specifications. Keysight's E6953A DSRC V2X test solution can achieve comprehensive test automation for OmniAir Consortium WAVE-DSRC test cases according to SAE J2945/1, IEEE 802.11p, IEEE 1609.2, IEEE 1609.3 and IEEE 1609.4 standards.
"As a long-time member of OmniAir and contributor to the testing program, we are pleased that OmniAir has become a qualified candidate for DSRC," said Siegfried Gross, vice president and general manager of Keysight's Automotive and Energy Solutions business unit. "We will continue to work with OmniAir and other industry leaders to provide similar solutions for the emerging V2X standard."
Jason Conley, executive director of OmniAir, commented, "We are proud to work with companies such as Keysight, whose world-class capabilities and expertise will help advance OmniAir's V2X testing and certification programs."
Technology and engineering services company Bureau Veritas Korea (BV Korea) has become an OmniAir Authorized Test Laboratory (OATL), making it the first laboratory in Asia to receive global certification. The company has adopted Keysight's E6953A DSRC V2X test solution, which will enable BV Korea to provide OmniAir certification services to the growing ecosystem of V2X designers and manufacturers in Korea and throughout Southeast Asia.
"We believe that V2X technology in the automotive industry will be widely used around the world with technical certifications provided by companies such as Bureau Veritas Korea," said Todd Kwak, laboratory manager at BV Korea. "We look forward to our continued close partnership with Keysight to achieve OmniAir V2X certification." "
We are proud that Bureau Veritas Korea has selected our DSRC V2X test system for their certification program," said Jun Chie, vice president of sales, Asia Pacific, Keysight. "Bureau Veritas Korea and Keysight will work together to launch V2X services."
About OmniAir Consortium
In 2017, the OmniAir Consortium announced the official launch of the world's first V2X equipment certification program for the connected vehicle market.
As an important part of the certification process, OmniAir has recognized equipment from Spirent Technologies and Danlaw as Qualified Test Equipment (QTE) for the OmniAir Consortium Connected Vehicle Certification Program.
The OmniAir Consortium was founded more than 10 years ago to promote certification and interoperability of intelligent transportation systems. OmniAir and its members work with transportation industry stakeholders to develop requirements and specifications for radio frequency identification (RFID) toll collection and DSRC-based connected vehicle equipment. Since 2012, OmniAir has provided certification services for RFID tags and readers used in electronic toll collection systems.
