First of all, we need to understand the principle of accelerometer calibration: it is based on Newton's second law of motion, and the accelerometer can be calibrated by gravity analysis. The measurement system consists of a force sensor with a cushion installed on a rigid foundation, a cylindrical steel mass block with an accelerometer, and a guide rail. The experiment first uses a mass block to install the cushion and force sensor. When the mass block is quickly removed, the output of the force sensor is output. This reading is divided by the mass of the cylindrical steel with the accelerometer installed, so that the output sensitivity coefficient of the force sensor is first calculated. Then, when the accelerated steel column falls from a suitable height onto the cushion and force sensor, the output peak of the force sensor and the output peak of the accelerometer are recorded at the same time. According to Newton's second law of motion, the action force is equal to the reaction force.
This calibration method will eliminate the sensitivity coefficients of linear sensors and force sensors. However, the calibration depends on the local gravity acceleration. The impact pulse duration is determined by the cushion material and thickness, and the pulse amplitude is determined by the height of the free fall. In order to cover a certain frequency and amplitude range, different cushion materials and free fall height combinations are used. This calibration method can be used in the field, and the calibration accuracy can be within 1%.

I believe that in the near future, sensor technology will take a leap forward and reach a new level commensurate with its important status.
