In the new, classic, and system modes, controls are classified into different sub-palettes according to the types of input controls and display controls. The sub-palettes include numeric controls (such as slide bars and knobs), Boolean controls (such as buttons and switches), strings and paths, arrays, clusters, list boxes, tree controls, graphics, tables, drop-down list controls, enumeration controls, and container controls, as shown in Figure 2. The black triangle displayed in the upper right corner of the icon indicates that the palette contains sub-palettes.

The sub-palettes and their functions in the new control are shown in Table 1.

Use the buttons on the Controls palette toolbar to configure the palette. Table 2 lists the icons and functions of the Controls palette toolbar buttons.
