FLIR machine vision cameras offer a wide range of reliable, industrial-grade cameras with over 150 models to choose from. Our portfolio includes sensors ranging from small to large resolutions, from standard to high frame rates, multiple form factors (including board-level models), and built-in support for some of the most popular machine vision interfaces and standards. Our design, engineering, and manufacturing teams understand these different requirements, develop vision components for a variety of application scenarios, and provide COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) hardware for immediate integration.
However, we recognize that some OEMs and professional system integrators require further support in terms of customization and/or fine-tuning to ensure that their application needs are fully met. To support these customers, FLIR's most popular machine vision camera series offer customization options.
*Some custom options may have MoQ (minimum order quantity) restrictions; please use the Contact Us form on this page to speak with a machine vision expert.
Customization options
FLIR offers hardware, firmware, and optics customization; here are some examples of customizations we have performed in the past.
1] Hardware
Custom Branding
Custom branding allows for a variety of changes to be made to the basic branding of each camera; including pad printing a custom logo on the side of the camera, changing the position of the sticker label, and modifying its content.
Loctite Adhesion
Loctite is an industrial grade adhesive that can be applied to lens mounting screws (and CS adapters) to provide additional strength against vibration and/or shock.
Camera interface
Different mount options allow the integration of a wide range of optical components; you can change the camera mount from CS-mount to C-mount, C-mount to CS-mount, or remove the camera mount entirely.
Examples of three different interface types for Firefly cameras
2] Firmware
Lock the firmware
The camera is provided with a specific firmware version, either the latest version we offer, or a specific version that we develop and test in-house. The firmware is "locked" at all times, meaning that no changes can be made to the firmware during the life of the camera without your permission.
Customize default settings
Configure cameras with pre-defined settings including ROI, frame rate, exposure, gain, etc. This saves engineers time by not having to manually configure each camera before integration.
3] Optical components
Window glass removal
Remove the glass window inside the camera lens mount
Replace the IR filter with clear glass
Color cameras come with IR-cut filter glass; this customization replaces this glass with regular clear glass (used in monochrome cameras).
dust-proof
The optics for all of FLIR's machine vision cameras are cleaned and assembled in an ISO certified clean environment (ISO7 - Class 10000) at our manufacturing facility in Canada. But some applications require higher standards. In these cases, FLIR offers enhanced dust control for all of its machine vision cameras except the Blackfly S board level (USB3/GigE) and all Firefly models.
Special requirements and other customization
With over 20 years of expertise in machine vision, we understand the complexities of vision system design and integration. Our solution experts can provide guidance to help you find the right camera and/or recommend a custom camera for your specific needs. Our line of custom machine vision cameras and components serves the most cutting-edge industrial applications around the world. *Examples of non-standard customization include swapping or integrating new sensors, custom form factors, cabling, and other unique application examples.
