Renesas Electronics Corporation, a supplier of semiconductor solutions, has announced the launch of an ultra-high-definition (UHD) surveillance camera reference design to meet the high-definition object detection and recognition requirements of today's security video and surveillance systems. Developed in collaboration with Novatek Microelectronics Corporation and designed by Systemtec Corporation Ltd., the reference design includes an image sensor (CIS) board with phase detection autofocus (PDAF), a high-performance image signal processing (ISP) board, and autofocus zoom lens software.
The surveillance camera reference design achieves 4K resolution, excellent color imaging and excellent object recognition accuracy, including recognition of small objects in low-light conditions. The design also achieves excellent high-speed autofocus operation through low-cost lenses. The above combination of features enables Systemtec to bring high-performance 4K security video camera reference designs and software to customers, helping to shorten development time and build camera systems with fast autofocus and enhanced imaging performance.
“The growing demand for security and surveillance camera systems requires higher imaging accuracy and more powerful object detection and recognition capabilities,” said DK Singh, Director of System and Solution Marketing Division at Renesas Electronics Corporation. “Our surveillance cameras with 4K resolution and PDAF provide faster autofocus speeds compared to conventional contrast detection autofocus. We are pleased that the close collaboration with Novatek and Systemtec has made this surveillance system reference design more accessible to customers around the world.”
The surveillance camera reference design is based on Renesas' high-performance RAA462113FYL CMOS image sensor and Novatek's dual-core SoC image signal processor, and uses several other Renesas IC solutions to achieve a complete electronic signal chain function. The CIS board RAA462113FYL, DC/DC buck converter, LDO, motor driver and lens. The ISP board carries the SoC and related signal chain components.
