Bosch Sensortec is launching a "Longevity Program" and expanding its product portfolio to meet the specific needs of industrial applications. The new program provides customers with peace of mind by ensuring product availability for up to ten years[i] while offering them high-performance, rugged sensors. In addition, the smaller reel size provides greater purchasing flexibility.

For industrial and IoT applications, customers often expect manufacturers to provide parts for a long time (usually ten years). Because the design cycle for such applications is usually long (two years or more), customers must bear the cost risk of new development and certification. Applications that use long-term supply products require longer equipment supply periods, such as the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), industrial robots, logistics, factory and building automation, agricultural equipment, smart homes and home appliances, and white goods.

In response to growing market demand, Bosch Sensortec offers three products in the "Longevity Program": the BMI090L Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), the BMA490L Accelerometer and the BMP390L Barometric Pressure Sensor.

The BMI090L is a high-performance, long-term IMU designed for the Industrial Internet of Things, robotics, agricultural equipment, drones, and white goods and home appliances. With its excellent vibration and temperature stability, the BMI090L can be reliably used in use cases such as navigation, sports, and asset tracking. The sensor's gyroscope ensures a bias instability of less than 2 °/h, which is unique among IMUs on the market.

The BMA490L is a high-performance, long-term supply accelerometer for industrial IoT and logistics applications, agricultural and industrial robots, white goods and home appliances, and power tools. The sensor has excellent temperature stability, low noise and low offset characteristics, making it ideal for many use cases such as predictive maintenance, asset tracking and vibration monitoring. In low-power operating mode, its current consumption is as low as 14 µA, which meets the requirements of "always-on" applications.

The BMP390L is a high-performance, long-term barometric pressure sensor that is ideal for demanding industrial and IoT applications such as logistics, white goods and home appliances, precision agricultural machinery, robotics and drones. The sensor has excellent temperature stability and a typical accuracy of +/0.03 hPa, which is better than any other similar product on the market today. As a result, the BMP390L can be reliably used in demanding use cases such as water level detection, asset tracking and navigation.
