(November 9, 2022) Macroblock Technology held a 2022 online seminar on November 9. This year’s main theme is “Driving the Metaverse and Creating New Horizons.” In this seminar, the lecturers entered into the Metaverse from different application aspects, including VR headsets, automotive smart cockpits, and LED displays, leading the audience to gain an in-depth understanding of how Macroblock's products and technologies realize the Metaverse concept and use it to How to deal with the challenges.
First of all , Chen Qikai, general manager of Macroblock Technology, kicked off this exciting event. General Manager Chen Qikai said that there are unlimited business opportunities in the Metaverse. Whether it is to enter the Metaverse through a VR headset, or to realize the naked-eye Metaverse through an LED display, the development of the Metaverse will also bring about changes in display technology and product specification requirements, and Macroblock Technology will be able to assist our customers to overcome these challenges one by one.
Chen Qikai, general manager of Macroblock Technology, said that the development of Yuanverse has brought about requirements for display technology and product specifications.
Improving VR headset performance | mini-LED backlight solution - MBI6323
Mini-LED backlit VR headsets are the key to the metaverse, and the common challenges of VR headsets can be divided into two major items, one is experience optimization, and the other is comfort improvement. Chen Changlin, product director of LED backlight driver chip of Macroblock Technology, explained that the optimization of experience includes overcoming the pane effect, improving picture contrast, and eliminating picture abnormalities; improving comfort includes reducing dizziness, alleviating eye fatigue, and making the device thin and light. The MBI6323 launched by Macroblock Technology can Meeting all the above challenges can bring better experience and comfort to users.
For the challenge of improving picture contrast, MBI6323 has 32 channels, 16 lines of scanning, and a high partition count of up to 512, which can improve picture contrast; for the challenge of eliminating picture abnormalities, MBI6323 can avoid flickering and uneven brightness through "dynamic synchronization technology" ; To address the challenge of reducing dizziness, MBI6323 is equipped with "black insertion technology", which can reduce the afterimage caused by the rotation of the liquid crystal and improve the user's dizziness. In response to the challenge of reducing eye fatigue, MBI6323 can use "S-PWM technology" to achieve a refresh rate of 960~20,000Hz, reducing fatigue through high refresh rates; in response to the challenge of device thinness and lightness, MBI6323, as a highly integrated chip, integrates scanning MOS can make the overall device thin and compact, allowing users to wear it for a long time.
Chen Changlin, product director of Macroblock LED backlight driver chip, explained that MBI6323 can improve the experience and comfort of VR headsets.
Create the perfect car smart cockpit | mini-LED backlight automotive solutions - MBI5353Q, MBI6353Q
Hu Jiayu, Macroblock LED backlight driver chip product director, said that Metaverse has entered the automotive field, using mini-LED backlight AR HUD and mini-LED backlight automotive displays to outline the smart cockpit of the car, bringing a new driving and riding experience. Different users have different needs for automotive displays. Driving focuses on high brightness and low gray performance; passengers focus on high contrast and high image quality. Macroblock MBI5353Q and MBI6353Q can meet driving needs. They not only have a multi-channel combined with multi-scan architecture to achieve high-brightness display, but also have "Hybrid dimming technology" to achieve excellent low-gray performance. In addition, both products support high-zone area dimming, which can meet passengers' requirements for display contrast and image quality.
Director Hu Jiayu also mentioned that in order to cope with the diversification of automotive displays, Macroblock's backlight automotive solutions provide flexible circuit design options, allowing automobile manufacturers to be more flexible in product planning. The first option is to connect an external FPGA or Bridge chip between TCON and the backlight driver chip, which can add functions such as image partition configuration, line scan control, and error detection; the second option is to directly connect TCON to the backlight driver chip for action. Simplified circuit design and simple circuit wiring are achieved.
Hu Jiayu, Macroblock LED backlight driver chip product director, pointed out that MBI5353Q and MBI6353Q can meet the needs of drivers and passengers for smart cockpit displays respectively.
Realizing the naked-eye metaverse | LED display cutting-edge applications and technical challenges
LED displays can realize the "naked-eye" metaverse, and new application scenarios include simulation training, dome theaters, off-site co-performance, etc. In order to bring a better naked-eye immersive experience, high-quality display technology must be the foundation. Wu Yida, product director of Macroblock LED display and backlight driver chip, specifically pointed out that new application scenarios bring five major challenges that are different from the past, including displaying high frame rate HDR video sources, improving resolution, display delay, LED color cast, Low gray flicker, these challenges have been overcome by Macrotech.
Macroblock's "PWM Enhancement Technology" can support 120fps video sources, while "PWM Enhancement Evolution Technology" can support up to 240fps, and the refresh rate has been increased to 7,680Hz, meeting the naked-eye Metaverse's demand for image smoothness. In response to high-definition formats above 4K, the pixel spacing of display screens has become smaller, resulting in tight layout space. Macroblock's LED driver chips have high channel and high integration features, which can effectively free up backplane space. With Macroblock's "built-in DCLK dual-edge trigger" and "GCLK internal oscillator" technologies, the display can support low-latency transmission. Small-pitch displays are also prone to color cast problems, and Macroblock has energy-saving technology that can effectively reduce overall thermal power consumption. Macroblock's "Super Vision Computing Technology" can greatly improve the low-gray flicker problem and make the overall contrast effect of the display better.
Wu Yida, product director of LED display and backlight driver chip of Macroblock Technology, emphasized that Macroblock’s products and technologies can perfectly cope with the five new challenges brought by the application scenarios of the naked-eye metaverse.
Realizing naked-eye metaverse | "Common Yin Architecture" and "Common Yang Architecture" solutions

Yang Zhehao, Macroblock LED display driver chip product director, introduced this year’s launch of common cathode and common anode LED display solutions for naked-eye Metaverse applications.
In addition , we are honored to invite Qiu Yaohui, Global Vice President of ASUS Computer and General Manager of the Display Division, as a guest speaker in this seminar to talk about the Metaverse from the needs of creators. Vice President Qiu Yaohui said that we must first understand the needs of creators before we can help creators play their best in the virtual world and then provide them with the most suitable solutions. Finally, the seminar ended with a lively Q&A, in which the four lecturers answered the questions raised by the online audience one by one. Next year, Juju Technology will return to physical events, including CES, ISE and Infocomm. Please continue to stay tuned to our official website and social platforms, and we look forward to meeting you offline.
