    Abstract: ZigBee Alliance and Thread Group issued a joint statement, announcing that they will implement ZigBee's application layer protocol on the Thread network architecture. It is designed to standardize the protocol for various devices in smart homes and other occasions.

   
Thread was created to support different application layer protocols. The cooperation between the two will help to jointly create a complete home network product solution. After reaching a consensus on cooperation, both ZigBee and Thread will take a big step forward, thereby reducing industry fragmentation.

    ZigBee is already well known, and Thread technology is a rising star in smart home wireless communication technology in recent years. It also follows the 802.15.4 standard. The network architecture is based on IPv6 and can provide users with a secure and open network connection environment. It can exchange and back up data through the Internet and any device. It provides product developers with a reliable, low-power and self-healing connection option in existing short-range wireless communication technologies.

    We still don't know whether the combination of the two can solve the standardization of the protocol. When we switch the scene to industrial occasions, the node capacity becomes a major pain point of various ZigBee solutions, rather than the unification of the protocol. The FastZigBee large-scale networking protocol carried by ZLG ZHIYUAN Electronics ZM5168 series ZigBee modules has many application sites with more than 10,000 nodes in actual application cases. With the ready-made ZigBee to Ethernet gateway, the rapid implementation of the industrial IOT Internet of Things is easy.

    The combination of ZigBee and Thread standards is expected to help members of both parties further enhance the competitiveness of their services and products. For the industry, the combination of the two will promote the progress of industry standard unification and change the current phenomenon of standard divergence.
