PCIM Booth Preview | New Infineon reference board efficiently controls rotary refrigerator compressor drives

Munich, Germany - Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) has launched two new reference boards designed for rotary refrigerator compressors, following Infineon's strategy of "from product thinking to system understanding". Both boards are turnkey solutions for low-power compressors, which customers can easily copy to create the final mass production application board. Since the reference board design has been system tested, it can greatly shorten the system development time for developers.

REF_Fridge_D11T_MOS is a ready-to-use three-phase inverter that includes the iMOTION™ smart driver IMD111T-6F040 and the 600V CoolMOS™ PFD7 super junction MOSFET IPN60R1K0PFD7S. The board provides an easy-to-use power stage based on the iMOTION™ smart driver, which combines a ready-made FOC motor control algorithm with a 600V gate driver in an LQFP-40 package. It also includes discrete CoolMOS™ super junction MOSFETs with the lowest Qrr, ESD protection, and a compact SOT-223 surface mount device (SMD) package. The board can be easily connected via iMOTION Link and achieves optimal light load efficiency and compact design.

The reference design kit REF_Fridge_C101T_IM231 is an ideal choice for customers pursuing higher integration and smaller footprint. The board combines the digital motor control IC (iMOTION) IMC101T-T038 with a three-phase CIPOS™ Micro intelligent power module based on 6A, 600V IGBT. This combination provides a fully functional and compact inverter solution for low-power motor drive applications. In addition, it reduces BOM count, shrinks PCB size, and improves reliability.
