26 pieces of advice for new employees in the communications industry
1. Please respect the senior employees around you, especially your mentor. Maybe he (she) is not as educated as you, and did not go to the same school as you, but he (she) entered the industry earlier than you, has fallen into pits and stepped on landmines, and has the experience that you lack the most. There must be a teacher among three people. Observe them carefully, learn from them with an open mind, and you will be rewarded.
2. Respect does not mean blind obedience. Please be skeptical and have the courage to question everything. No one is sure to make no mistakes, and no document is sure to be written wrong.
3. Don’t be intimidated by those so-called “titles” of experts . Titles do not represent ability, and there is no positive correlation between qualifications and character. We are all adults, and we must know how to protect ourselves.
4. Don't complain, at least don't complain too much. Everyone is busy, no one has time to listen to your complaints, and no one cares about your complaints. The most important thing is that you think the external environment is against you, but in fact you think too much, it's not easy for everyone.
5. If you feel that your master did not teach you the real stuff, there may be three reasons: First, the master thinks that you are not ready at all. You have not mastered the basics, how can you expect the master to teach you? Second, it means that you are not proactive enough. Knowledge cannot be obtained by waiting. As long as you take the initiative to do it, and ask specific questions when you encounter something you don’t know, the master will naturally teach you. Third, you need more patience. Sincerity can move mountains and open rocks.
6. If you think the work assigned to you by your boss is not what you are good at, then please don't feel frustrated. How can you make progress if you do what you already know every day? Only by working hard on what you are not good at can you grow quickly.
7. Don’t be afraid of pressure. The greater the pressure, the faster you grow. The only thing that is truly terrifying is having no pressure.
8. Don’t ask “What should I learn?” In fact, you know the answer, but you just want to avoid it and look for the so-called “shortcut”.
9. Don’t ask “Is there a future (money) in studying ( engaging in ) this major?” There are no unpromising majors in this world, only unpromising people. If you work hard enough, you can still live a good life even if your major is unpopular. If you don’t work hard, you will only be a soy sauce player in the most popular major.
10. Don’t rush to buy books, because you won’t read them even if you buy them. Similarly, don’t rush to download materials, even if they are free.
11. The best document is the agreement. The agreement is in English and you don’t understand it? If you don’t understand it, just learn it!
12. Don’t rely on your training courses and trainers. No expert comes out of a classroom, they all come out of a computer room.
13. Read books you can understand carefully; read books you can't understand with all your heart. Also, don't expect to remember and master anything after reading a book for the first time - read it a second or third time.
14. Please practice the examples in the book yourself. These examples are very valuable.
15. Remember, the fundamental purpose of learning technical knowledge is to use it. If you don't use it, you will soon forget it. Since you will forget it sooner or later, why bother learning it?
16. As a new employee, don’t just copy someone else’s script or code. You’re destroying your skills. You won’t be able to write a script or code that you haven’t written yourself, even if you’ve read someone else’s script or code 10,000 times. The same goes for when you’re doing computer practice, even if you’re working in a team, you should do every operation yourself.
17. Asking questions is an art. Don't ask questions that can be easily answered by search engines, and don't ask questions that have clear answers in documents given to you. Asking such questions is the greatest disrespect to the other party. When asking technical questions, please bring your ideas, the methods you have tried, and specific imaginations and even logs. Don't ask too macro questions, because not everyone has the energy to write a thousand-word article to answer your questions of dozens of words.
18. It is better to keep the basic technology in mind than to talk about fashionable technologies. The communications industry has indeed developed rapidly, but the basic logic has never changed. The so-called new technology is either the improvement of material technology and processing technology, the use of new materials and new processes, or the modification of existing technologies. Blindly chasing new things is actually putting the cart before the horse.
19. A good memory is not as good as a bad pen. As a communications engineer, please develop a good habit of taking notes. If you can open a blog, it would be even better. Don't think that you are not good at writing. No one is born with the ability to write. Knowing how to accumulate and output is the basic quality of an excellent engineer.
20. The fastest way to learn something is to write an article about it. If you can explain it to others in a simple and understandable way, it means you really understand it.
21. Many people are strange. They work hard and study hard, but once they reach their goals, they stop moving forward. It's like applying for a good position. You work hard and try your best. Once you get the position, it's like entering a "land of comfort". You try your best and start the retirement mode. I think it's better to study at level 5 for a lifetime than to study at level 10 for a while.

25. Don't be self-righteous at any time. When you start to be arrogant, your bad luck begins. Strange failures specifically look for those who are arrogant and teach them a lesson in minutes.
