The semiconductor industry is really in trouble! Following the fire at the Renesas chip factory, Japan's Miyagi Prefecture has ushered in another natural disaster!

According to reports from NHK, CCTV and other media, an earthquake with a standard magnitude of 5 (maximum 7) and a magnitude of 6.9 on the Richter scale occurred in the sea near Miyagi Prefecture, Japan at around 18:09 local time on Saturday (17:09 Beijing time). The Japan Meteorological Agency predicted that the focal depth was 60 kilometers and issued a tsunami warning for the sea near Miyagi Prefecture, with an expected height of 1 meter.

As for the semiconductor market, the impact of the Fukushima earthquake last month may reappear. Many semiconductor equipment suppliers in Japan have built semiconductor factories in Miyagi Prefecture. For example, Tokyo Electron and Nikon Precision Machinery Co., Ltd. in Miyagi Prefecture manufacture parts for stepper photolithography machines used in LCD and IC production. In addition, Fujitsu, capacitor manufacturer NEC/TOKIN, and Toyota Motor also have production facilities in Miyagi or Fukushima Prefecture.

Since the earthquake happened not long ago and it happened on the weekend, there is no news about the impact on semiconductor factories. However, according to past experience, semiconductor companies near the epicenter will be affected to some extent.
