AMD reshapes the automotive industry, debuting at CES 2024 with advanced AI engine and enhanced in-vehicle experience
AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) today announced that it will showcase automotive innovations at CES 2024 and expand its product portfolio with the launch of two new devices, Versal Edge XA (automotive grade) adaptive SoC and Ryzen™ embedded V2000A series processor . These devices demonstrate AMD's leadership in automotive technology and are designed to serve key automotive focus market areas including infotainment, advanced driver safety and autonomous driving. AMD will work with its growing ecosystem of automotive partners to demonstrate the broad range of capabilities and applications of these new devices in current or future automotive solutions at CES 2024 .
From infotainment consoles to digital instrument and passenger displays, Ryzen Embedded V2000A series processors power the next generation of automotive digital cockpits. The expansion of the AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000A series brings the first automotive-qualified x86 processor family to deliver the same PC-like experience consumers have come to expect for home entertainment now in the car, anytime and anywhere.
" Our expanding and highly diversified AMD automotive portfolio provides significant opportunities to serve this high-growth market while also highlighting the importance of Looking ahead to CES 2024, we're excited to showcase the results we've achieved together with our ecosystem partners and the tremendous synergies our combined automotive teams have created since acquiring Xilinx two years ago. The future of the automotive industry.”
Improve AI engine with car-grade Versal AI Edge
The Versal AI Edge automotive-grade adaptive SoC equipped with an AI engine can provide many advantages for AI computing, vision and signal processing. The Versal AI Edge automotive-grade adaptive SoC can perform AI inference on large amounts of data ingestion, and can also be used for edge sensors such as lidar, radar and cameras, or for centralized domain controllers. The AI engine is capable of handling different types of AI models, such as classification and feature tracking. This device combination can provide 20,000 to 521,000 LUT logic units and 5 to 171 TOPS computing power. The portfolio is scalable and designers can easily port their designs using the same tools, ecosystem and security certifications.
Versal AI Edge automotive-grade adaptive SoC can accelerate high-performance AI computing applications, while providing functional safety and information security and promoting the development of automotive design. The first devices will be released in early 2024, with additional devices planned for release later this year.
James Hodgson, research director at ABI, said : "In the future, automakers will rely on autonomous vehicle applications to shape their brand image. Since these applications rely heavily on artificial intelligence, automakers need computing platforms that can provide powerful and efficient AI computing power. Between 2024 and 2030, annual shipments of highly automated vehicles* will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 41%. For heterogeneous devices with powerful and efficient AI computing power, including AMD Versal AI Edge automotive-grade devices, This bodes well for healthy growth opportunities for SoC vendors.”
Enhance consumer in-vehicle experience with AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000A
Advances in consumer electronics have raised expectations for in-vehicle experiences (IVX). Entertainment, connectivity, the in-vehicle workplace and safety are becoming important factors influencing consumer decision-making, which is why AMD is launching the new AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000A Series processors. These automotive-grade devices enable automakers to deliver superior performance and multitasking capabilities to infotainment and IVX systems so passengers can stay connected on the road.
AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000A series processors are built on innovative 7nm process technology, "Zen 2" cores, and high-performance AMD Radeon Vega 7 graphics to deliver a new level of performance. In addition to supporting Automotive Grade Linux and Android Automotive, it offers high-definition graphics, enhanced security features and hypervisor-enabled automotive software.
Peter Cirino, Chief Operating Officer of Ekatong Technology, said : “Since the launch of Ekatong Makalu digital cockpits powered by AMD Ryzen Embedded processors, they have proven to be the key to supporting Ekatong Technology’s automotive solutions. , because these solutions require advanced computing power and visual graphics rendering capabilities, with the help of Ryzen Embedded V2000A series processors, Yikatong Technology looks forward to expanding our next-generation digital cockpit solutions for software-defined cars in 2024 and beyond. function.”
