Aerospace & Defense Electronics丨Tell you the reasons why you should choose ADI
For more than 50 years, ADI has been at the forefront of innovation in signal processing technology for aerospace and defense applications. ADI's relentless focus on performance, reliability, and sustainability has made it a preferred supplier to aerospace and defense agencies in the U.S. and around the world.
ADI leads the way in many important innovation areas facing the aerospace and defense industry, including SWaP+C, COTS, Enhanced Products (EP), and GaN. Today's advanced aerospace and defense systems involve many areas such as radar, communications, avionics, etc., so the highest level of system-level performance is needed more than ever. ADI's superior products, broad product portfolio, and system-level knowledge will help you overcome your toughest design challenges.
ADI in the field of SWaP+C
Mobility, portability and flexibility help to quickly configure aerospace and defense systems, reduce loads and improve fuel efficiency of commercial aircraft. In addition, size, weight and power consumption and cost (SWaP+C) are also important considerations in the selection of design components and module subsystems.
ADI provides components for a wide range of signal chains, from raw data acquisition to millimeter wave and back, and supports SWaP initiatives with consistent technology leadership. For example, we invest in multiple manufacturing processes, including gallium nitride (GaN), advanced SiGe and CMOS, to increase power and integration, and continue to reduce product size. Industry-leading next-generation high power amplifiers (HPA), integrated RF transceivers, ultra-wideband phase-locked loops (PLLs) and synthesizers fully demonstrate that ADI has been working tirelessly to develop optimized SWaP+C technologies to serve the aerospace and defense market segments.
ADI in the field of COTS and custom solutions
The use of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components and modules shortens the development cycle of defense projects, speeds up the time to market, and enables solutions to be deployed on defense aircraft more quickly. ADI provides commercial and customized solutions to meet a wide range of needs in the aerospace and defense fields.
Optimized for aerospace and defense systems
The advantages of COTS include the use of lower-cost components that have established a complete high-volume manufacturing process and high reliability through operations in the commercial field, and can be applied to the defense field through reinforcement or connector modification. ADI's concentrated investment in the aerospace and defense fields ensures that the next-generation equipment has special functions and features that meet the stringent requirements of the next-generation aerospace and defense systems.
ADI is committed to helping its aerospace partners succeed
ADI has 50 years of technology leadership and rich experience, from original chips to high-speed components and connector modification parts for rapid prototyping, to modules for integration/customization, to special subsystem-level design and manufacturing. In the process of technological advancement, ADI continues to invest heavily to support the long-term needs of aerospace/defense users. Our products include custom screening, pin-compatible replacements for technology upgrades, and reinforced plastic and fully sealed packages for harsh environments.
Our aerospace/defense partners benefit from sharing our knowledge—including ADI’s next-generation technology product roadmap, our customers’ design, performance, product lifecycle, procurement, and plug-in needs. ADI is committed to strengthening the relationship by providing designers and project managers with support and tools for everything from new design product selection to future upgrade planning.
ADI in the field of quality and high reliability
ADI is a leading global supplier of high reliability (Hi-Rel) semiconductors, including data converters, amplifiers, RF/microwave and MEMS products. Products in our high reliability portfolio use reinforced plastic (EP) packaging and/or space S-level packaging with ultra-high temperature and radiation resistant working ranges. ADI also offers a wide range of MIL-STD-883 and known good die (KGD) products. Our aerospace and defense business unit continues to invest in high reliability semiconductors and serve important aerospace and defense applications. With long-term efforts, first-class quality, support throughout the product life cycle and a good reputation, ADI has become a preferred supplier to other national defense agencies and commercial aerospace manufacturers around the world.
ADI in GaN
ADI is focused on developing industry-leading power amplifier solutions for the aerospace and defense sectors. Using world-class gallium nitride (GaN) processes and advanced power combination technologies, ADI provides broadband MMIC and high power amplifier (HPA) components for next-generation radar and communication systems. GaN devices have high junction temperatures, so they require less cooling capacity when operating within frequency, lifetime, and bandwidth specifications.
ADI has optimized the performance of its products for an extremely wide frequency band range from S to Ka band. ADI has many years of rich experience and history in die mounting and cooling, biasing and combination technology. Our goal is to provide users with the highest performance and most reliable GaN amplifier solutions.
Solutions to Today’s GaN Challenges
Power efficiency and thermal management are undoubtedly major challenges for next-generation radar and communication systems that focus on "active electronically scanned array" (AESA) and "multiple-input multiple-output" (MIMO) architectures. GaN's inherent advantages help improve radar sensitivity and reliability, while also providing many system-level advantages such as small size, low weight, low power consumption and low cost (SWaP+C). Other advantages include increased system flexibility to support multi-purpose requirements and the addition of multi-band components. ADI's GaN MMIC product portfolio provides a comprehensive, high-power broadband solution that supports up to 100 W of power in the VHF to Ka band range. At frequencies up to 18 GHz, our solid-state GaN amplifier/combiner solutions are smaller in size and more reliable, and can be a replacement for large traveling wave tube (TWT) amplifiers.
